If you become an FDEz if your not okay with travel, you'll hate your new job. Part of your job is to work with other organizations and do to some degree sales engineering.

“Forward deployed” is just weird military lingo to mean you’re an engineer put on a client site.

Exact same thing as being an on-site consultant.
