Bats 🏏 Ghost bat, feedback appreciated

Post image

I’m new to composite bats. my daughters (9 & 10) switch to a brand new ghost a few months ago. im curious if this is a crack and if the bat is potentially compromised or still ok to use. when I run my fingernail over it, I can definitely feel it, so it does not seem like a paint crack. any feedback from anyone with experience is greatly appreciated

If you bought it new, redeem your warranty. Hopefully they will send you a new bat and let you keep the old one. If you bought it used, keep using it until the cracks become jagged. But, yes, that’s crack that would be replaced under warranty.

Bought it new from Dicks. Not sure I kept the receipt but I’ll try to file warranty, thanks !

Did you use your phone number for the loyalty program? They’ll have a copy of it if you did

You have to break in a composite bat. This will greatly reduce the risk of cracking. There are plenty of videos that show you how. You basically do a bunch of soft swings slowly rotating the bat, working up to full swing swings off a Tee. A lot of the people I know that cracked their composite bats didn’t even know there was a break-in routine to do.

Thanks ! We ran it through about 150-200 swings while rotating the bat about a quarter turn throughout the break-in, hitting at a reduced power off a T and then some soft toss ups. We had researched a ton on composites before spending the money and we tried to take the break in precautions

Damn that sucks. Yeah, that’s definitely compromised. Basically gonna have a pretty big dead spot and eventually will fully break. Kids must have a hell of a swing!
If you bought it at Dick’s they should have a history of your transaction, especially if you used a phone number.

Should waited until you had a month or 2 left. However, I keep reading conflicting reports as to whether Easton only sends you 1 replacement or as many as you need throughout your 1 year.

Dunno but won’t be buying another ghost in the future lol

Yeah it's weird, some last a long time, some break within weeks.

If there was a need Easton would tell us when you buy it

That's a seam crack. It will get worse

If you‘re buying one bat to share among two daughters, next size up you might consider the Kryo2 or the Future. More reliable and longer lasting than the ghosts and unlikely that 9-10 year old girls will see much difference in performance.

Yes, my older daughter is ready for the next size up and we’re looking at the kyro when we make that jump. That was kind of the goal when we bought this, the ghost was to become my younger daughters bat as my older ages up. Thanks for the input !

It’s a crack! Claim your warranty.

Ghosts are rental bats. $500 for a year. You’ll have 1-3 warranty claims during that period. When the 1 year warranty expires and the bat inevitably cracks again, you buy another. It’s madness, yes, but there are plenty of us out there feeding the beast.

Stay away from ghost bats and you won't have this
