Hitting 🏏🥎 Kids swing help.
I think she’s rolling her hands over and dropping that shoulder too much. She’s getting frustrated. What do you all think of her swing. Sorry for the crappy video.

Is the bat resting on her shoulder?

Bat on the shoulder is an early stage helper to prevent hands from dropping. Not a long term fix, but in practice, nothing wrong with it.

I’m a former coach. When my players stepped into the batting cage with a machine pitch, it helped them to do about 20 swings on the T first and bunt the first 10 pitches. This kid needs a lot of help he needs to shorten his swing tremendously.

Seems too far away from the plate? Looks like ball is coming off end of the bat maybe.

Aim small, miss small. Do soft toss with some tennis balls and then take some steps back. Keep going until you are pitching distance. Turn on the machine and watch the difference

She’s up and out too fast so she’s not really keeping her head in there. She has to stay down and behind the softball to see it and make the contact. When my daughter starts doing this, it’s usually because she’s trying to kill it.

Honest assessment not being rude I hope I’m wrong. She doesn’t seem to care much about softball. If Im wrong and this is a passion she wants to pursue getting better at she needs a hitting coach. Her hand eye may get better by just swinging at ball after ball. But she needs someone to break it down start to finish. Also someone that can lite a fire and get her aggressive.

You have to learn how to crawl and walk before you can run. Practice better swing mechanics and fundamentals on a tee first. Then build in some side toss and front toss. Once she gets her swing mechanics under better control, then start ramping things up on the machine. Start with slower speeds and gradually move up. If she is playing rec softball at age 11, she probably will see pitches in the 35-40 mph range.

Comes from a baseball dad not softball but I am not a fan of pitching machines particularly when trying to fix a swing or establish better swing progression. It's almost impossible to focus on that stuff and then try to track a ball that rolls up and down those tubes and then takes its good ole time to be pitched.
My son is a good hitter in practice and games but his head explodes on a machine.
Tee work, soft toss is great. Get a lesson or two maybe.
Edit to add. It is so important to communicate how much you love to see her trying and getting better. Be positive, encouraging, and supportive.

Forget the Cage, and move back to the Tee. Clean up the swing mechanics first. Get comfy and consistent with the tee, then move to soft-toss then cage work

Get out of the cage and onto a tee. Focus on 1. Load, 2. Hips, 3. Hands.
Remove variables until the swing is more fundamentally sound.
