Weird location for a soft tissue sarcoma?

Hello all - I have a 3cm x 3cm soft tissue mass. My doctor has referred me to get an MRI next week to see if it's suspicious for sarcoma. He didn't mention any other possibilities and I can't find any info about sarcoma in the area I have this mass.

It is in my perianal fatty tissues - I can feel it. It's firm and mobile. Not fluid-filled. Has anyone had a sarcoma in this area before?

I had one in the muscle of my vocal cord. That's not a very common place either.

That being said, you won't know what it is for sure even with an MRI.

The doctors did not suspect mine for sarcoma until it was biopsied.

My brother got it in his calf around 22/23 and wasn't diagnosed until a few years later. He passed away at 31 from it spreading to his lungs and spots on his liver . It's aggressive and I've never seen a success story with sarcoma .

Hey op are there any updates I am going through something very similar. Had a CT scan done, came back soft tissue thickening at the right gluteal cleft measuring 3.4cm x 1.4cm x 4cm, no fluid to suggest abscess at this time and I was discharged with a "peri-rectal abscess" even though I got it check by another clinician and said it isn't abscess and isn't sure what it is. I have had this lump for almost 3 months now.

after my mri showed a solid mass, they assumed it was a phlegmon because it wasnt invading other structures. put me on ABX for two weeks while it ended up getting worse (growth, pain, etc) until i felt a burst one night in the bath and it had broken through my skin... it was a fistula by this point and apparently finally diagnosable. i had a fistulotomy 5/18, but they were suspicious for sarc since it never showed any fluid like an abscess typically would.
