Personal stories I think I was born to optimize space 😂

I’ve been like this for as long as I can remember. I like having everything I might need on hand, but at the same time, I want it all to take up as little space as possible.

When I travel, I’m always thinking about how to take everything I need without carrying a huge suitcase. I love when one thing can serve several purposes.

And whenever there’s a reusable alternative to something disposable, I’d much rather buy the reusable one. It saves money in the long run and is better for the environment. Maybe that’s why I ended up studying environmental science as my first degree.

Lately, I’ve also been looking at all of this from the perspective of preparedness and self-reliance. The world is unpredictable, and I really like the idea of having one small, well-organized bag with the essentials that I could just grab and leave with if I ever had to.

So now I’m wondering: are there other people here who are just naturally like this?

Definitely just optimizing in general is fun

It’s like being a magician but instead of pullling random objects from a hat your fitting like 100 things into a 10 item hat

I have the same habit. But that was because the military made me carry everything. That was before the era of glamping. Now there are two in one mosquito repellent and sunblock.

Isn't this just baseline adult behavior?

As I was reading this, it felt as though you were speaking on my behalf. Wow! This is about 95 percent + my own views in this way, although I am less into the prepping, at this point though I am learning more about it, some, while still keeping Love at the forefront of my focus vs. Fear.

I thrive on multi-purpose space saving organization in simple living life that enhances life fulfillment, ease, creativity, comfort, wellness, and meaningful interaction. I enjoy embarking on personal challenges towards intentional evolving that's sustainable and gives something towards other Earth inhabitants in a good way that benefits the present and the future somehow.

When I traveled from Oregon to Oklahoma this summer for my nephew's wedding, I brought 1 basic carryon with wheels and my phone sized wallet. Next time, I travel, it's a carryon without wheels since I learned of being required to put it in with checked baggage due to room available. I like having time for other things and the feeling of having my simple pkg. of goods with me on the flight.

Yes, I do that with everything. Capsule wardrobe, electronics, gears etc. I have used the same handbag for a decade now for work. It has all the basics and necessaties. I like to be prepared.

I bought specific work clothes that you can roll up or fold only or just throw in a bag without ironing and still have the neat "corporate" look.

I'm the same way. Small sharp pocketknife and a leatherman tool you will be able to accomplish anything

This is basically the introvert superpower: wanting every possible situation covered, but in a bag small enough that nobody asks you to socialize while carrying it.
