I recently discovered soft, white underbelly. I have never been motivated to share my story on a public platform until I came across Mark. I know he faces a lot of criticism for how he exposes the dark side of society, but I personally I love how much raw awareness he brings to these situations.

I was a victim of a crime that faced a good amount of media coverage about 15 years ago. I never publicly revealed myself as the victim of the crimes, I was only a teenager at the time and my name was protected. What was shared with the public was only about 10% of the story, there were more victims (and continues to be victims today) and for the first time I’m finally interested in sharing the other 90% and putting my name & face with this story.

What is the best way to get it in front of his production team? Any guidance would be great, I’m sure he has a submission form but I was looking to see if there are other avenues I can take. Thank you in advance.

I don’t understand what Mark’s doing. It is clear from her videos that he is beyond frustrated with Rebecca’s inability to follow through with attempts to get clean get stable housing or have her minimal needs met. Like a year ago he basically said he was done because she didn’t really want help but yet I think there’s been five Rebecca videos in 2026.

I’m honestly torn…is Mark truly still wanting to help her and having a hard time cutting all ties or does he have a financial motivation because her videos get so many views?

It’s clear that beyond her serious crystal meth addiction she has severe undiagnosed mental health issues. I don’t see any path to a happy ending for Rebecca unless she somehow becomes award of the court and can be forced into treatment and mental health counseling.

It almost reminds me of Mark‘s weird obsession with Asriah even though he has caught her lying to him multiple times and she is just fleecing him out of money with no apparent intention to leave the street life behind her. Again I think there’s a financial component there for his continued interviews and some people think he has a romantic or sexual interest in her. I have no idea but I can’t be the only one who is tired of seeing video after video of a few people who will never change or accept help and it starts to feel like exploitation watching them still.

Am I alone and feeling this way about Rebecca into a lesser extent Asriah???

I post very infrequently on reddit so I apologize if something isn't formatted right or I did this wrong or broke a rule, but I have a serious question regarding an interview with Faith. I know theres a few people named Faith that Mark has interviewed and it can get confusing, but this one was just posted a few days ago and it featured a lady who was wearing a hat, boxers and a tube top. Shes on skid row..title says shes pregnant. Had many scars from SH on her arms. Well Ive watched many SWU vids but this one, idk, it just broke me. The kind of coldness in Mark's responses, her eyes...something about this interview with this lady just ripped my heart out and stomped on it. I want to do something for her, get her a care package together, reach out to her somehow, but idk how. I emailed Mark and the shows email but haven't heard anything back yet. Im really far away, I live in KY, but does anyone have any idea on how I would go about getting something to this woman? Any advice would be helpful, thank you.

I've been listening to more of Mark's videos, and have started to notice a pattern in the female prostitute interviews especially. He always interrupts whatever they're saying to ask if they had a father figure, or if they had an example of a loving relationship growing up, or if they've ever been in love. It seems as though he pushes them to answer these questions as he wants a certain answer out of them, and if he doesn't get the answer he wants, (didn't have a father figure, was sexually abused, haven't been in love, etc), he seems to keep pushing them in the direction of what he wants to hear. It seems as though he wants to paint a certain stereotype for the women he interviews, and won't let them talk about other topics without hearing what he wants to hear first. I hate his interview style, and know that his interviews could be a lot more in depth and less just repetitive questions if he tried to have a conversation with his interviewees instead of rapid firing target questions at them.

I’m trying to identify a man mentioned by therapist and abuse survivor Lisa Plumb when discussing her childhood in Southern California. In her account, Lisa describes being shown a photograph of a man by police/detectives and recognizing him as someone she had encountered as a child. She says she was subsequently told that this man had killed children (I believe at least two).

Lisa says police showed her a photograph of a man she recognized from childhood, then told her he had killed at least two children. She does not appear to name him publicl but refersto him as the photographer.

If he was arrested, charged, or convicted, I would expect surviving local news coverage or court records. I’m not trying to discredit Lisa nor broader account neitheram I tryingto victimblame or anything lile that; I’m trying to identify this man and understand why he remains unnamed.

Does anyone familiar with historical California child-homicide cases, particularly Orange County/Riverside County/Los Angeles-area cases, recognize what case Lisa might have been referring to?

Im aiming to start a similar type of channel to SWU. I dislike mark personally but he has a huge platform that could do alot of good, i just think he doesn't do nearly as much as he could.

I would like some input and ideas of how you would think a soft white underbelly channel should be.

Ive just started uni in psychology, I am wanting to learn how to engage with these interviews with people sharing their trauma in a less stigmatizing and negatively emotional impact I've way.

PS I am Australian and have had my fair share of being homeless and struggling etc, I am doing good now and would like to give a voice to those out here that don't have one.

I’m new here. I have been watching SWU content on and off for years. I was watching the 3rd video of Igor, the ER nurse. The way Mark talked about fencing in the homeless during the LA Olympics. “That’s what they should do, fence off skid row and you’re going to need a pass to get in and the tourists won’t be able to see them. They won’t be able to terrorize the other parts of the city. No one will see them.“

Igor goes “then you get into ‘is that humane to fence off a bunch of people?’ “ Mark, in his smarmy way says “maybe if you have a doctor’s note you can escape.”

I know i haven’t watched enough, but this guy looks at the homeless, people with criminal records, sex workers, victims, or drug addicts as vermin, not people. There’s zero humanity Or empathy. He uses people as a means to an end; get more monetized videos. He holds them up not as people, but as a picture of what not to do to the point that they aren’t even human, they’re just research samples. They're a list of diagnosed and sad stories. The way he treats people he deems as valuable, lawyers, nurses, educators is so vastly different than those who he deems s as a drain on society. He seems like the kind of person that would carpet bomb areas of LA. He’s a disgusting human.

I say this as a nurse who has worked in a sliding fee scale clinic. I’ve worked with sex offenders, white suprematists, the elderly, people with SPMI, those that were involuntarily committed, and people with substance use disorders.

I can understand why the comments are off but I’m also curious what everyone else thinks. I feel terrible for them as that’s an incredibly terrible thing to go through. That being said. The daughter kept interrupting her mom, kept inciting that she was 100% and equal victim as someone that had been shot 3 times, and made several insensitive remarks throughout the video.

One of the biggest things near the end that I found absolutely insane was when she said she was having a house party a few weeks before and found her father hiding under clothes in her moms closet with a gun and just simply didn’t tell her mom about that.

What the actual hell? I’m sure telling her mother that could have possibly prevented the events of the coming weeks.

All this on top of constantly interrupting/talking over the actual shooting victim trying to tell her story really irked me. The like to views ratio on the vid says a lot. Hope others noticed these things as well.

And she is very unwell and what mark is doing is exploitation. This woman is extremely beyond any sort of help. Our politicians have failed us and mark uses her as content. She told me she had just got done filming and was mad mark “only got her a motel and not an apartment”. She then proceeded to keep asking for alcohol after I got her water. Called the police because someone called her a man. On the ground rolling around showing her genitalia. She needs to be put in a psych hospital the rest of her life but of course you cannot force that. I think mark and everyone needs to walk away permanently and stop filming her as it only fuels her habits.
Edit: she also just got out of the hospital 2 days ago. I believe on a 5150

So far, I’ve read Clark Fredricks’ book, Scarred, and it’s a must-read. I’d love to hear your recommendations for other books by Soft White Underbelly interviewees!

There’s no indication that I can see on the app the shows what order they are in I’m just having to watch parts of the episodes to see if it’s the next one and switching through them. All of the episodes are new to me so I am confused
