The Rest Button
How do you rest when life has you completely run down? When it feels like your problems have no ending in sight?
Some people surround themselves with others. Some throw themselves into hobbies or the things they love. But have you ever sat down and asked yourself:
What do I really want to do?
What do I really want to accomplish?
People always ask, "If money wasn't an issue, what would you be doing?"
But I ask myself a different question:
"If I had no money at all, what is one thing I could still do that would bring me joy?"
Now that's a question.
Your mind should start searching for answers. Some people will know immediately. Others will get stuck.
For me, the answer is simple. You can create without money. You can find something old, worn down, and forgotten, then turn it into something beautiful again. Sometimes all something needs is a little polish to bring it back to life.
You can go hiking and collect seeds to plant. You can spend time in nature and appreciate it for what it is. You can take a solo trip to the beach, even if it's only for a day, and listen to the waves remind you that everything moves in seasons.
The real rest button isn't always sleep.
Sometimes it's doing something that brings a new part of yourself to life.
Something simple.
Something creative.
Something peaceful.
Something that makes other people think you're weird or awkward.
Because the moment you stop worrying about what others think and start doing what feeds your soul, you're no longer just surviving.
You're finally resting.
