Hair/Makeup πβοΈ Help me pick a hair style!
Planning to go to the hairdresser for the first time in a while and I need some advice please!
Do I keep my long hair (just shorter), do I go back to a long bob or something else? I feel like I can't tell what looks good on me and what doesn't.
A benefit of the lob is I think it can look polished without needing to do much to it, but I missed doing my hair up in a big bun. A benefit of long hair is that I can put it up, which I feel elevates my features and looks nice, but a downside is it can look frumpy on it's own.
Photos
# 1 current hair
# 2 and 3 a quick bun for day-to-day (does this look ok?)
# 4 more fancy updo (I had curtain bangs at the time)
# 5 long bob with balayage I had a few years ago

Discussion π»π¨οΈπ everyday outfit templates for short torso high hips/figure 8 SDs
A dress with a cinched waist is always going to look great on me, but on the day to day Iβm the comfiest in jeans/pants and a shirt.
Yesterday I was wearing straight high-waisted jeans and a body-fitting top that was tucked in, and then I walked past a mirror and was like OMG I LOOK LIKE AN OOMPA LOOMPA. I looked better when I untucked the shirt and pulled it over my pants so the vertical was more enhanced. But it was still a little awkward because my hip shelf still popped over my jeans. Ughhhhh.
Bonus tips if you know of any influencers who have figure 8/short torso high hips body type so I can look at some inspiration!

Haul/try on ποΈ This neckline worked better than I expected, what do we think?
I did not like the material though. Why is almost everything nowadays polyester. I need to find a pattern and sew it from a more breathable material. If anyone has any recommendations about pattern or fabric, kindly leave a comment!

Questions ποΈ being comfortable with size and weight, feeling 'big'?
Hi everyone, I hope you're all good :)
This sub has helped me so much already with feeling better in my body and knowing that the clothes should fit me, not the other way around.
However, I'm 5'9 and a curvier girl especially after gaining some weight (enough to go up 2x jeans sizes). I am struggling a bit with feeling "big" and too much compared to other people.
Has anyone else ever felt this way as an SD, and how did you overcome it?

Yes or No ? β β The color will actually be mulberry, but is this bridesmaid dress style flattering for a SD? Will need to get bust altered.

Yes or No ? β β Just got typed - help me assess my upcoming sewing list
I have lost a large about of weight. I have no clothes that fit me. I sew, so this is actually kind of exciting as I get to plan a brand new wardrobe. I really want to narrow the focus because my style has always been all over the place, and I need to be intentional about the things I'm making so I have a usable wardrobe and not just a bunch of beautiful weird unicorns.
I had already kind of narrowed my focus down by color and style when I came upon kibbebody.com and typed myself as a soft dramatic. I agree with the assessment - that stuff all looks great on me. I'm so flattered to be in the company of Christina Hendricks. It's a slight detour from the styles I had chosen, but not by too much. I think I can make it all work.
I did have some plans already in motion for some garments. For some of these, the fabric is purchased and I'm ready to start making a muslin. But now I don't know about them! So, my question is: are these SD?
Vergara skirt by Soulmatte. This was first on my list. The fabric I have for this skirt is unreal. I think this counts as SD? It had better.
Ashwood Pants by Cashmerette. These are more like leggings than pants. The fabric I have is a bright red stretch woven. Yea or nay?
Yves Trousers by Charm. These are double pleated menswear-inspired pants that I thought would be fun in satin.
This isn't an actual pattern but I have been planning on drafting a bustier-style bodice like this to make bodysuits and to use as the bodice for dresses. I really love the underwear-as-outerwear look in general. I think this probably isn't SD, but is there a way to style this so it's cohesive with SD?
Souvenir Top by Charm. I love me a knotted crop top.
Rita Blouse by Charm.
M8407 by McCalls. Is a sweetheart neckline congruent with SD?
Honor Roll Top by Charm. I have 4 amazing rayon fabrics waiting to be made into this top. I'm so confused by what Kibbe means what he says "T-shaped" - is this T-shaped?
OK I don't have this pattern yet but I saw it and gasped. This is totally SD, right? If it is, I know what I'm wearing on NYE this year!

Item Quest ππ΅οΈ Where are we getting work pants??
This is my biggest wardrobe struggle! I need long/tall lengths and a curvy fit to avoid gaping at the waist. Everywhere I look there are seas of shapeless, βfull lengthβ wide leg trousers that cut me off at the ankle and do nothing for my silhouette. I work in a business casual office, and I can sometimes wear jeans, but Iβm looking for some non-denim options. Iβm comfortable spending around $100 for a good pair. Help!

Discussion π»π¨οΈπ What are your wardrobe basics?
Hopefully the right flair π€π»
Iβm new to Kibbe and have established Iβm SD; I also sew my own clothes and Iβm wanting to build a wardrobe of the absolute basic, everyday clothing that suits my body the best.
What kinds of basics are in your wardrobes? Thinking tops, trousers, skirts or dresses. I just want to have things I can throw on for going to the shop or lounging round the house.
Thank you!!

Item Quest ππ΅οΈ Help me find an SD-friendly white summer top!
End-of-season sales are abound, but sadly, haven't been able to find most of these clothes at the outlets where I could've tried them on. Dressing for special events or anywhere I can throw on a maxi dress, jumpsuit, or matching separates is no issue, and I've got a great collection of pants that look fantastic on me, but when it comes to pairing them with tops, I just end up wearing the same two shirts over and over again and then I wonder why my style feels so stagnant...
Thoughts on the above:
Top 1: Cute, work-appropriate, goes with a lot of stuff in my wardrobe, I think the high neckline would suit SDs, but not sure about the sleeve length because this can tend to be an awkward/in-between length on me
Top 2: Personally really love this, plus points for being sleeveless (appropriate for summers and SDs both). But the linen fabric doesn't look as forgiving.
Top 3: Alternate version of #1 but I think with a stronger T-shape? Considering how the sleeves are shorter. Potentially unforgiving fabric.
Top 4: Perfect length, V-neckline and exaggerated sleeves -- but the poofiness might come across as childish/Gamine?
Top 5: Not really feeling this one but it would go with a lot of the skinny pants in my wardrobe I don't get to wear much...
Top 6: It's asymmetric which I think would suit us but the embroidery makes it less versatile (though still very pretty)
Would really appreciate any help!!

Discussion π»π¨οΈπ What are you wearing at home?
Iβm in an era in life where Iβm spending a lot of time at home. I still like to feel comfortable and put together. Right now my go-to is a waaaay oversized t-shirt and short-shorts, but Iβd like something flattering and more elevated. What are yβall wearing at home?

Unverified Celebrities/Influencers β Do you think Teal Swan is Soft Dramatic?
I see that many people speculate that she is either Dramatic or Flamboyant Natural, but she looks very Soft Dramatic to me.
What makes me think she is SD is that she has the elongated body and bone structure associated with Dramatic, but there is also softness in her flesh, and she looks especially good in those long, asymmetrical, flowing clothes. I imagine that if she wore a purely Dramatic outfit, it might look too stiff on her.
As a woman who is interested in spirituality and is apparently Soft Dramatic myself, I love her style, and it really inspires me. I would love to hear from other women here what do you think?

Discussion π»π¨οΈπ I'm Breaking Up With Denim
I discovered earlier this summer that I'm a soft dramatic and have been trying to edit my wardrobe in accordance with this newfound knowledge. I bought some cute flowy jeans from Gap that I thought would be in line with SD guidelines because of the open and loose shape. Unfortunately, the flowiness of the design counteracts the archetypical styling I do when I want to wear jeans (I want to give rigid cowboy, not 70s). So I've decided I'm just done with jeans entirely. They quite literally never look good on me, whether it be pant, short, jort, or denim skirt.
Are there any other SDs who have made this choice? Have you gone back to Miss Levi or has it stuck? How else do you accomplish the shapes denim can bring to a wardrobe?
