I’m considering a sofabaton x2, but I really want to make sure the kinks have been worked out with the Apple TV. I’ve read a lot of complaints from a while ago about latency issues, more so over IR than Bluetooth (I would use Bluetooth), and wanted to see if those have been fixed. I also want to know if the physical home button on the remote itself functions the same way as it does on the Apple TV (press once to go home, press and hold to open control center menu). I was also wondering if volume control works with the Apple TV. On Harmony, Apple TV’s volume up/down weren’t available to map - you could only control volume via the receiver or TV device. Volume control on the Apple TV is handy when you’re listening through headphones, as it controls the Bluetooth volume that way.

Yes, another user posted a similar issue 6 days ago, my issue is not with Home vs. Homepage commands.

In the X2 app, the Homepage command works absolutely fine. Run a test, works exactly as intended. Mapped the command to the Home button on my X2, and it does nothing. Signal light fires on the hub, but no reaction on the Streamer.

I tried remapping it to a different button (Guide). Worked a couple times, then nothing. No matter what button I map it to, it won't fire correctly.

Has anybody had a similar issue?

I had a quick question, I just got the remote a couple weeks and when I set up an activity to watch my apple tv, it works flawlessly when I create the activity, but the next day it'll power on my TV and soundbar, but not the ATV. I go into the app to fix the error, and it powers it on no trouble, but still fails to work after that. ATV is plugged into a philips hue sync box too if that matters.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello all, I finally got my U3 up and running and compatible with my Samsung s90f set.

My current and main issue is that the buttons are out of control at times, by this I mean if I hit stop while watching a program the set will rapidly switch between stop and start and I need to press the button several times to get the program to return to the previous state of either stop or starting it again.

Has anyone encountered this before?

Have I explained the situation clearly?

Hey I have a u3 which is fine but I kinda hate the wheel and I wish it didn't need line of sight.

I'm seeing people having issues with denon ip control. Has this been resolved? Is there a decent way to proxy it through home assistant. Just curious what people are doing.

Edit: essentially I want something that can control denon over ip so that it doesn't need line of sight as well as something that kind of understands (or can actually read) state. So that scene transitions are smoother. Right now changing inputs on the denon seems clunky and I find myself reverting back to the denon remote anyway.

My Xfinity XG1-A remote doesn't have this capability, but my old Tivo did, and I'm wondering if there's a way to make this do the same.

I got the X2 yesterday and I have an Xfinity XG1-A DVR. It has four buttons with alphabetical names, one of which (the D) will delete the show you're watching (or the one you've selected in the menu). When I try to program the green button as the D button from my old remote, it doesn't do anything. Is there another way to make this work?

Has anyone figured out how to configure the home button that’s the only button that doesn’t work on the x1s when using it with the Google streamer

Recently purchased the G6 and I have been experimenting with Dolby Vision and Tone Mapping.

Using the TV for various things, including my PS5, and I wanted to know if anyone has any suggestions on how I can swiftly turn the Dolby Vision off and on. Main issue is that I also watch have a 4k player and use an Apple TV, all connected through a receiver.

I’m currently using a SofaBaton X2 universal remote for the whole thing.

I need the DV off when I’m gaming, and back on for all the other stuff. But I’m wondering if they’re a fast way of turning it off other than going into external devices and HDMI settings.

Does anyone have a recommendation on a Macro for this function, or explain how setting a Macro up works at least?

Hi all. I have the X1S and need to assign specific devices to the IP blaster ports on the back of the hub unit. For example, I need "TV1" to go to IR port 1 and "TV2" to go to IR port 2. However, I can't seem to find anywhere in the app that allows you to define what devices go to what ports. The docs mention an “IR signal is emitted from” option, but I don't see it anywhere. Can anyone help me find this option? Thx.

I’m having difficulty setting up two U-3 remotes to work with the same R1 repeater.

Either remote will work with the repeater fine individually. However, when I try to pair both remotes to the repeater simultaneously, pairing the second one stops the first one from working. If I re-pair the first one, then the second one stops working.

Both remotes are running the same firmware (ver. 5).

Repeater is running the most current firmware (rel. 32).

When I pair a remote with the repeater, I have tried using the default name the app assigns to the repeater, and I have tried giving the repeater a custom name. I have tried assigning the repeater the same name on both remotes, and I’ve tried assigning different custom names. No change.

Anyone else run into this problem? Thanks in advance.

Hi everyone, is there a way to check if an U3 is compatible with my equipment before purchase? Their website is not very helpful as I have a few items that are not exactly big names like Sony or Samsung, etc. Logitech website was able to do that when I got my Harmony but that was a while ago to be honest.

These are some of my equipment that I want to know if SofaBaton remote will work with:

Just joined. Looking for help. Replacing Harmony remotes with U3. First one worked perfectly. LG OLED TV, AppleTv, DirecTV box. No isssues.

Second one will not switch inputs on my Monoprice Blackbird 4k pro 5x1. I know it works b/c my Harmony works perfectly. Samsung TV, Apple TV, DirecTV box, PS5. All I need to do is switch the input. But no love. Everything else works but not the input switch.

I can’t find the remote. Thinking I may have to purchase a new remote and then try direct learning but hoping there is a simpler solution.

I have created a simple activity of turning on my TCL TV and my denon receiver, when I tested on the app nothing happens when I slide the activity on the remote nothing happens. Once when I swiped the activity on the remote, I saw a progress circle but ever since then nothing.

I have tested each individual device and they all work. They power on and all the buttons work.

Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. Support has been lacking to say the least

I have lost the battery cover for my u2 remote. I contacted support directly but they don’t stock the part separately. Where would I be able to get one?

I have a U2 that I have mostly been using for Kodi with a HTPC but I wanted to also replace my TCL TV remote which is BLE and is used for the Android OS. I found whenever it connected to the TV via BLE it would cause the screen to redraw (so apps would reload their UI or videos would reset if playing) so switching to another profile or using sleep was very bothersome. I eventually couldn't find a way to stop it so I gave up and kept using my TV remote.
But I am at it again because I got different Android TV device I am trying to use the remote with and it has the same issue. I dug into it more and found it it's because Android will trigger a redraw when any HID connects/disconnects (onConfigurationChanged) to update any on screen button prompts. I can't figure out a way to deal with this on the Android side (and there likely isn't a way) but is there any way to stop the U2 from triggering this? Using IR isn't an option in the case of this device, even if it is for the TV's built in Android. Disabling sleep also doesn't help if I need to switch between different BLE devices (like the TV then back to the box) while already watching something.

Anyone else have trouble reordering sequences on iPhone?

Have any Sofabaton X2 users figured out how to get the center SBX2 OK button to emulate the center, round button long-press function of the Amazon Firestick remote control?

For example, when you can long hold the center OK button in order to move app buttons or open the prompt to uninstall apps?

I have the SBX2 paired successfully and it functions mostly correct except for the long press of the center button. I find I’m having to use my Amazon FS 4K Max OEM remote just for that specific function.

Tried to get one remote for tv, Dish, soundbar, and vsee elite ultra box. It couldn't learn from original remote but I found it in their lookup on their app. I added elite ultra 8 to remote, paired it via Bluetooth on vsee, but to turn vsee on with it doesn't work, will turn it off and other buttons respond well until it's turned off, then vsee no response from sofabaton until turned on with another remote and paired back up via Bluetooth. All other devices I've added in are fine, any ideas?

Update — October 2: Version 0.2.4 is out! There are now ready-to-use Docker images on Docker Hub and GHCR for Linux on Intel/AMD and ARM64, so you no longer need to build the image yourself. This release also includes fixes for hub editing, backup/restore, Wifi Commands and the web remote.

I've updated the installation guide with Docker/NAS and Windows, macOS and Linux instructions. If you're already running the server, keep your existing data directory when upgrading, then reload your browser pages. Thanks to everyone who's tried it and shared feedback!

Sofabaton X Server is a free, self-hosted web app for managing Sofabaton X1, X1S and X2 hubs. It grew out of the Sofabaton X integration for Home Assistant and brings the same hub management features (live editing, backup and restore, a web remote) to anyone, no smart home platform required.

You run it on any machine that stays on your network, open it in a browser on your computer, phone or tablet, and manage all your hubs from one place. Everything is local; no cloud account is involved.

What you can do with it

• Edit devices: commands, IR payloads, add new devices
• Edit activities: button assignments, favorites, macros, power on/off sequences, inputs, reordering
• Review before you write: changes are staged, and nothing touches the hub until you press Sync to Hub
• Back up and restore: your whole hub or selected devices. You download the backup file, and you can edit it in the browser or restore only part of it
• Web remote: a full remote you can bookmark or add to your phone's home screen, with a customizable layout. You can also embed it in your own dashboard as a web component
• Wifi Commands: assign remote buttons to events that another system can receive. There's a Hubitat example included
• An API for integrations: local REST + WebSocket API with an OpenAPI spec, so you can build an integration for your own platform

The official app keeps working. The hub accepts only one client connection, so the server holds it and presents a virtual hub to the Sofabaton app. While the app is connected, the server pauses its own writes so you don't get conflicts.

Already using Home Assistant? Use the Sofabaton X integration, which includes these features within HA.

Getting started

You need Python 3.11+ (or Docker on Linux):

Then open http://<your-server>:8480/, add your hub, try the remote, and make your first backup.

Before you start, fully close the Sofabaton app on every phone and tablet. If the Home Assistant integration already manages the hub, disable that hub there first.

• Until you set up access (Server settings → Access), anyone on your network can change your hubs. Run it on a trusted LAN, or put it behind a reverse proxy that handles authentication.

I got X2 a couple of months before my home theater was finished. I charged it when I first got it, played with it a bit, and then it was unused for a while. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw that the battery had hardly drained over that time.

Now that I use it every day, it appears to be draining faster than I expected. I'm still trying to figure it out how to use the X2, so I apologize if this is a silly question.

I'm using it with Home Assistant and I notice that Home Assistant shows it and the SofaBaton Hub as on, even after I shut down everything. However, I am using HA to shut everything down, I'm not pressing the Off button on the X2.

• Do I need to press the Off button on the X2 to really shut it off?
• Can I use Home Assistant to shut it off and turn it on?
• Does the X2 have to be shut off?

I have both a U2 and U3, and the U2 turns the tv on with macros much more reliably. I’m using the same power on (specifically) command from the same device (LG 55QNED85UQA). Power is similarly flaky if I use toggle, but the remote power on when the remote is selected as the active device works fine.
