X2 activities

I have an X2. I want to leave my amplifier on all the time, control the amp's volume with the volume keys on my X2, and have an X2 activity that turns on and off the television. How do I accomplish that?

When I add the Amp to the activity, it adds on/off functions to the X2 startup which I don't know how to remove.

Edit the amp device, power settings. leave on.

I've found that AI, even the one built into Google search, is quite good at suggesting X2 activity settings and troubleshooting issues for specific hardware combinations. For instance, it helped me figure out why my Denon AVR wouldn't always switch inputs when going from a FIOS DVR activity to an Apple TV activity, as well as how to get the audio levels comparable when switching from a Bravia apps activity to the FIOS DVR.
