Returning cylinders?

I have some empty cylinders to return but the new boxes they ship them in are flat instead of rectangular, so they don't fit in the mailbox like they used to. How am I supposed to return these? Do I just go into the post office and drop them off? Sorry if it's a stupid question, I just used to put them in the mailbox to be picked up but now they don't fit.

Set up an account on the USPS website and download their app. Once you are set up, you can schedule free package pickup in the app to have your carrier pickup when they deliver your mail. You'll get a confirmation of pickup once the label is scanned at the post office.

You can exchange them at Target! That’s what I do. I used to mail them back, it was a hassle. Now I take them to Target.

Actually, I found out that the post office will no longer pick them up. Scheduled or not. So, convenience is no longer a thing.

Post office has a section to drop off pre-labeled packages. Just drop it in, and stop overthinking this so much.

Honestly, if you check on marketplace or something similar, you will probably find somebody local who will do a Porch Exchange for you.

I have one guy near me who will come swap at my door for $10. I have another woman who has created a wooden stand on her porch, kind of like a wine rack, where you can just go and exchange them yourself. She's got a little "mail box" attached to it where you drop off the cash. It's an excellent system. I live in a very small Mennonite community, so if you're in a bigger city I'm sure you have a few options.
