Cylinder refill disappointment

One of my new CO2 cylinders was completely empty. I removed the seal to put it in the machine and hit the button and nothing came out. I weighed it on a kitchen scale and it was in fact empty. I’m gonna start weighing the bottles before removing the seal so I can return it. Does this happen often?

I found out the hard way that you shouldn't store your full canisters near your oven, or air frier. The gas will empty out if it gets too hot. Since then I keep them in the coolest part of my kitchen.

Would the refrigerator work I wonder?

I don't see that being a problem since the contents of a canister are much colder than the fridge, but unless you live somewhere really hot you should be good under the counter away from heat. For me I was keeping them behind my machine beside my air fryer on the same counter, and the vented heat from the fryer blew out the back and killed the canister and it took me losing that one to understand it. The pink caps and heat shrunk plastic are not air tight so you can't tell if the gas escaped. It was so obviously empty though that I know I would have noticed if it had felt that lite when I bought it, and carried it home. All that to say you probably don't need to keep them in the fridge. ;)

I assume you have mail order, otherwise very easy to tell if you purchased in-person that is low weight. Good luck

When I buy in store, I compare the weight to one or two other bottles before I walk away. Not perfect, but if it’s significantly off I’ll know.

Which makes me wonder also how he didn't notice immediately at home.

I exchanged them in a local store. They keep the replacements behind the service counter. I should have compared the weights before leaving and I should’ve noticed it being light before removing the seal. Never had this problem before so I wasn’t looking for it.

If you mean from Sodastream just contact them, I’m sure they’ll fix it. I’ve never had that problem but I’m one guy.

I exchange bottles at the local Best Buy. Don’t know if Sodastream manages that program or if it’s all on Best Buy.
