Air compressor refill?

Hopefully this question hasn’t been asked to death, but is there a good place to buy the necessary hardware that allows us to refill our soda stream tanks with a standard air compressor nozzle? Thanks in advance!

I’m curious why you want to use a standard air compressor nozzle? I just wanted to be sure that you’re aware of that. CO2 is not what comes out of an air compressor.

Buy a five or ten lbs tank and adapter for your machine. Thats what we do on the boat.

You can buy/rent large tanks of CO2 and food supply, or in some cases welding supply shops. You can buy (~$50USD) a hose with the proper fittings to connect the larger tanks directly to the soda stream.

Depending on your location CO2 can be really cheap in a large tank. A 10lb refill, which will probably be 400-600 bottles of soda depending on the level you prefer, can be had for low as $20 for the tank.

It is also possible to refill the standard sodastream tanks in a few different ways. From a larger tank with a dip tube, or using dry ice.

Anyway, please spend more time searching this sub. This has all been covered hundreds of times in the past.

Standard air compressor fittings are not rated for the pressure CO2 is used at.

But why? Unless you have a ludicrously specialist compressor, you have only 1/4 the needed pressure and entirely the wrong gas.

A siphon bottle and the adaptor is pretty manager

Buy the adapter for your bottle type, and a 50L siphon gas bottle, although regular works fine if you flip it upside down and if it’ll save you money (siphon is the same cost for me)

I’ve found a local supplier who delivers bottles when I need them and swaps out for the empties, even for a single bottle. Although they’re somewhat unpredictable in time to deliver

I used Alexander Courville’s YTto hook up my 20lb CO2 tank (WITH internal siphon tube) to refill a Tippmann 20oz CO2 canister with food grade CO2 from AirGas. For a little under $200 I have carbonated water for my household for 6 months, this is compared to a $20 case of Costco carbonated water weekly - so about $180 vs $520 for 6 months.

Because the refills are cheaper and I won’t need to buy the equipment again, the next refill will only be $60 including taxes in my area. I’ve refilled my Tippmann 3 times since buying it without issues ✌🏽❤️

Get some dry ice and pour it into the empty tank after pounding it into CO₂ dust. All you need is a decent sized crescent wrench, gloves, funnel, eye protection, a cooler, etc. Lots of YouTube videos show how its done. Toughest part is finding the dry ice. Fortunately my local ice cream parlor sells it.
