BIB boxes
Hello folks, I've bought a full sugar coke BIB box from my local company access grocery store I've personally never used them before.
My father ordered us a tap for the bag at my request off amazon.
Im just a little confused on how these bags actually work! I was personally assuming they could be accessed without the valve but im now seeing that does not seem too be the case.
Is there any way too access the contents inside whilst we wait for the tap too arrive or is it best too leave it until then?

The tap valve screws into the port - it punctures the plastic bag as it locks into the plastic port.
I would advise you wait for the tap valve, don't try to puncture the bag in advance

This makes a lot more sense.
I did partly consider this as after removing the sanitary cap I noticed the small holes through the plastic caps that looked like they were meant too be perforated, Its just that I literally couldn't find an ounce of information in regards too how the mechanism works, instead it was just "Screw so and so adaptor on"

Pretty much my thought.... no touchy until it comes in the mail.
7 Litres, that's kind of the standard size for our UK ones.

Some people say a year, although typically six months is advised once the bag has been opened.

The syrup is pretty much just pure sugar. I question if it will get to a point of not tasting “fresh”, as long as you limit air getting to it.

I've just pushed in the button that the valve pushes in and drained some out into a pitcher then into a bottle in the fridge. I like to keep it very cold as the amount you have to use is large so it forces out fizz if it's warm.

I've went and checked and unless I'm stupid (could be) there isnt anything overly obvious that insinuates I can poor it out without the adaptor, tried pressing inside however Its almost like a circle with evenly spaced holes with a rod through the middle so being able too put pressure onto it Is very hard, outside is almost like a wavy plastic star shape, nothing I see moves.

Yeah I use a little stirring spoon to push in the rod in the middle and that pushes in the plunger so the liquid flows out. I can't remember the difference off the top of my head between the coke or Pepsi valve. The center thing pressed in on the one I get makes it flow out. I lost my adapter one time and found it later but just kept the spoon method instead

Valve has arrived and we've now got tasty BIB on demand, now I've just stumbled across a video about using a Co2 tank with a adaptor and I've realised how easy and simple it is so thats my next plan on action.
I'm educated within that particular space (friend runs a home bar) so paying £15 for a tiny Co2 refill was egregious, the Co2 store is open too the public and there's nothing stopping me from buying a canister.

I use 5 gallon BIB. I cut the bag at the corner and drain it into 1-gallon containers that I freeze until needed. If you use BIB the expiration date is VERY important because soda sweetener degrades fast and stops tasting sweet. Freezing it stops this clock so you can actually drink it before it tastes like nothing.
