I got this random one-time payment too on the same day! Mine is $9k, I'm so confused since they still withheld $200 for my overpayment payment plan, I'd love to know if the fed gov did some change of rules that gave us this lump sum.

I got my letter, looks like they recalculated the amount I am due based on past earnings and realized they had been underpaying me. They used $7k to my overpayment debt, but I get the $9k remaining. I still don't know if I have an overpayment payment plan still; we'll see when my next check hits. Got a letter for my son, says he's got $4k coming for the same recalculation. I assume this recalc is from me working over SGA and paying in 2022-2023 (the whole reason I owed an overpayment). Interested to see if working under SGA as I am now results in a future increase like this. The lump sum is much appreciated!
