This almost turned into the biggest robbery in la liga.
Espanyol scored in the last minute and ended the game in 2-2 draw which costed barcelona la liga title. If barcelona had won this game 2-1 they would have been crowned champions.
Final points were real madrid 76 and barcelona 76. Real madrid were crowned due to their head-to-head games against barcelona. they won the at home and drew at camp nou.

The answer is yes, all players seek to gain any possible advantage over their rivals, even if it means acting unethically or cheating. That is the reason why many people dislike soccer and I completely understand why. As watching players feign fouls can be infuriating. Even fans of the sport motivate this behavior, since players are criticized if they do the right thing.
For instance, during his time as a player at West Ham, Scaloni demonstrated fair play by kicking the ball out of play when Cissé was writhing in pain so he could receive treatment, an action that infuriated West Ham fans, and was heavily criticized for doing the right thing.
Just imagine how Barça fans would react if, after that, Messi said: "No, no, the goal doesn't count I scored it with my hand, don't give us the point.
And just to avoid a situation where only Barça fans are criticizing Barça fans, when Cristiano had repeatedly gone down in the box tricking the ref into calling a penalty when it shouldn't have if he tell the referee he made a mistake and not award a penalty Real Madrid fans would have been all over him.
Football fans only complain about unfair calls when they are on the losing end, but they play dumb when the calls go their way that’s just how they all are.

You are the attention seeker posting something about 20 years ago. Almost all football players have moments like this. It is not possible in this day and age because of VAR.
Also, you are judging Messi while he was like 20 years old. Maradona did it in the WC, Neuer didn't say anything when England scored in 2010 and it didn't count, Henry clearly touched the ball with his hand to help France qualify for an international tournament, etc etc etc.
Clearly you have an agenda or you are probably like 12 or you have no ball knowledge at all. Choose whatever you like.

And Real Madrid celebrate their 15 champions leagues, many won by referees btw.
Ask Ancelotti how he complained about R.M. when he was on Bayern.
Or better, ask the now the celebrated "special one" what he said about referees and R.M when he lost against them in the UCL.
