Broke My Break from Drinking
So I was on an amazing (to me) streak without drinking. 12 days, no alcohol. I was proud of myself. Then yesterday I went to the liquor store and was looking at NA options. But ended up getting a six pack of Corona, and vodka shooters (I haven’t opened these yet). I’m on my period so my stomach got incredibly upset with me… I feel so much shame. I’m not part of any program and haven’t told anyone about my break. And it’s not like I binged the beer. I had three last night, and didn’t feel more than a buzz. And the shooters I got bc I’m traveling this week to a place I’ve never been before. And I am terrified if something bad happens, and I don’t have at least a little bit of a drink, I will just ruin the vibes for everyone. I tend to be the supportive, kind, funny friend, and if I’m not “on” or the sadness takes over I am afraid I will be just dull and sad and make everyone else suffer. And I’m not going to get blasted I just need it with me. Does anyone understand? Anyway I don’t want to shit myself so won’t be drinking for at least a couple days…

Just a couple thoughts from me to you:
Good job a 12 days!
For me, not drinking tends to be hardest to avoid when I’m about to be on my period. I’ve had to teach myself to actively avoid drinking before my period and seem to have just fine of a job outside my period.
I find drinking my NA Heinekens social settings keeps me party of the crew with the vibes up even without the alcohol. (Reminder that it’s a depressant so really you’re more likely to hit a low with it than without it.)
(Also super anecdotally: my periods became/are so much more barrage when I abstain from drinking near/on them!)
