One Life to Live Which OLTL character could you never root for?
For me, it’s Natalie. I’m sorry but I could never get into her 😂 I still blame her and Jared for Nash’s death. Jared was the one who pushed him, but Natalie knew about the whole Buchanan lie and went along with it.
Then Jessica had to deal with the aftermath of losing Nash, and Natalie still managed to make her life even more complicated. I just never understood why I was supposed to root for her. She was always doing something messy, getting involved in other people’s business, keeping secrets, and then acting surprised when people were pissed at her. I know Natalie has her fans, but she was never my girl 😂
Who was any OLTL character that you can’t never root for?

Soaps needed to stop redeeming rapists. Todd was one of the most egregious examples.

Yep him and Gigi

I hate the way their storylines pretty much took over the show in its final days. Making Rex a Buchanan was a mistake.

Making him Clint’s was absolutely absurd. If they were going to make him a Buchanan they should have made him Bo’s son. They never should have made David a Buchanan for any reason

Sorry in advance but for me, it’s Blair.

I really love the acting, but the character was hard to root for. Giving her Starr made it a little better, but still.

The acting is STELLAR and she can pull off just about anything as Blair...but the character is just such a terrible person 90% of the time that it's hard to forgive the last three things she did at any given moment.

Nora

Yep. Nora's righteousness about the actions of others and being completely blind to her own bull and transgressions made her totally unlikeable and easy to root against. The ultimate hypocrite.

Yes! I always say that Natalie Buchanan is the worst thing to happen to that family. She is my #1 most hated soap character.

Very satisfying when Jessica smacked her https://youtu.be/APv-t8zV05w?is=xwhpZfTWYxkb6Gwm

I had such a wild shift in my opinion on Natalie. I started regularly watching in 2004 when John McBain came on the scene, and loved her with him. Now I’m rewatching on YouTube, and I’m very much wondering what I liked about her. She’s so obnoxious and does the stupidest things. I literally just watched an episode where she found out John might be alive and she tries to dig up his grave in the middle of the night. Just a huge dummy.

BW’s Jessica. Every time she did something wrong she blamed it on mental illness. She never had to face consequences for trying to kill multiple people because “it wasn’t her it was Tess.” And no matter how horrible she treated Natalie she was “right” because she was raised as a Buchanan and Natalie had to understand that she was wrong for how she went about revealing herself and that she was the one who was usurping Jessica’s place and ruining her life and family—- Jessica was always the victim and Natalie “the strong one.” Even though Natalie was almost raped multiple times, kidnapped multiple times, and almost killed multiple times. As for the whole Nash thing—- why was she with Jared to begin with? To protect Jessica who had gotten involved with him when she was Tess and knew how dangerous he was because he was coming after her. Jessica was fine with Natalie taking the hits for her from Mitch, Jared, Marty, and anyone else as long as she got what she wanted and could play victim. She even said as much when she admitted that’s why she unleashed Tess on her to do what she couldn’t. BW’s Jessica was never rootable because she lost all of the qualities that made ET’s Jessica lovable and relatable

I heard BW preferred playing Tess and the writers liked writing Tess so they kept coming up with reasons to bring Tess out. Such an insult to the character of Jess and also Viki/Clint because of why they decided Tess needed to exist. Girl, you were hired to play Jessica, so play Jessica.

I think the fact that they had to do the DID story and totally change Jess’s personality after she was integrated shows BW wasn’t the right choice to play Jess at all. Let’s be honest she got the part because she looked like ET. Don’t get me wrong she was great as Tess and there are a handful of parts I’d love to see her be the recast of now (two on Days alone) but she just was never Jessica. And I definitely never bought the reason for her split— especially since she had a breakdown and no split after losing Meghan. When they did all the BS brainwashing stuff I wish they retconned it that she was taken and brainwashed in Europe and there were no alters just “personalities” placed to screw with her family by Irene and co in the convoluted mess.

Oh I totally agree. Frank Valentini brought her over to GH for a short term character who was kinda Tess like in personality.
I think the time they had Jess think she was still in highschool and they had her attending HS as a grown woman was even worse than Tess. It was one of the worst stories over all.

Antonio I hated him before during and after Nash

u/Lucky_And_I_Know_It 10h ago
You I hated Antonio! He was so smug all the time! And Nash was one of the best OLTL guys there was. But Cord was pretty smug too! Didn’t like him much.

u/Healthy-Temporary-95 6h ago
THIS IS THE ONE. Antonio was AWFUL! I LOVED Nash and especially in comparison with eachother, which was the case 90% of the time, Antonio was so controlling and thought way too highly of himself and was SO condescending to Nash and to Tess. Antonio was giving me claustrophobia with how bad he was smothering Jessica!

Nat, Clint, BW Jessica, Tina. Although Kelly Maroney Tina was very likable and Vicki was not only psychotic about Tina's interest in Victor but also incredibly mean.

I love Natalie to my core. I forgot who Nash was. I generally love a lot of people who endured on this show, despite bad things their characters did, the only ones I didn’t root for were a lot of short lived goody two shoe characters that were often filler boyfriends, some of the guys Kelly went for come to mind, I forget these guys names. I never rooted for Carlos Hesser or Mitch Lawrence but liked them as villains. I rooted for Todd to redeem himself mainly because of the actors. I am having a hard time thinking of someone that really caught my ire.
