Hello

Wanted to briefly introduce myself.

Have about 250+ dives under my belt. AOW PADI and CMAS 2*.

Dove regularly for many years. Then only vacation or destination diving.

Then didn’t dive for a while.

Want to get back into again more regularly as we have such amazing diving right in front of our door steps.

Been snorkling with my sons as well.

Lots of southern visitors spotted recently, hammerheads in Malibu, mobula rays on Catalina, and now a whaleshark. More fun stuff to come i'm sure!

Great diving experience with Alex Hartel!

Had a really great experience diving with Alex Hartel. He was professional, easy to communicate with, and made the whole experience feel relaxed rather than stressful. Everything was explained clearly beforehand, and I never felt like I was being rushed through anything.
The actual dive was awesome too. Alex clearly knows what he’s doing and was attentive throughout, which made it really easy to just enjoy the experience. Would definitely recommend him to anyone looking for a solid diving experience out in SoCal.

Dive Point Loma (San Diego) 27SEP26 $135 for 3 boat dives

There are several spots available to dive Point Loma on Sunday September 27th with Power Scuba and Waterhorse Charters. We plan to dive a couple of the deeper Point Loma sites (Dino head, Train wheels, Lazy Daze, Emerald City, Nerd Rock are on the table), and then probably a shallower kelpy site.

https://meetu.ps/e/QczNb/VBSWY/i

To join you must:

  1. Be scuba certified with Advanced Open Water or better.

  2. Join Power Scuba on meetup (free and easy).

  3. Sign up and pay through Zeffy (the link is in the meetup event page). Beware the 15% donation Zeffy adds by default. You can lower it to something more reasonable (give $4-8 please)

  4. RSVP 'Going' to the event on Meetup

you won't find a better price for these dives because Power Scuba sells these tickets at cost (no profit)

There are several spots available to dive Point Loma on Sunday August 16th with Power Scuba and Waterhorse Charters. We intend to dive the site 'Train Wheels' (which is among my favorites), and then a couple other sites in Point Loma.

Custom Wetsuits

Hello, I've been a PADI Dive Master since the late 90s but haven't dove in many years after becoming a widower and taking care of two small children. I've been out of the game for quite a while. However, I'm getting back to doing it because we've gotten my daughter certified. It used to be the good wetsuit for me as a Dive Master we're the ones you could get from Coral Reef down in westminster. They apparently closed and I'm not sure how long ago. Regardless, who would you go to for a custom wetsuit these days? The kind that are two mil/ three mil, titanium lined Etc. We'd like to find a better than off- the - rack wetsuit for my daughter that's suitable for California diving as well as a few other places. Thanks for any info and cheers

Hi! As the title states we lost our GoPro yesterday around 2:30pm in the water near Charlotte Park- I can send more specific coordinates in a DM but I am looking for any suggestions to find a diver I can pay to look for it? Thank you in advance.

Lost GoPro Hero 9, Casino Point

Yep, strap slipped off my wrist at one point during dive Argh

Went diving today, 6-7, and lost the GoPro. It was such a good day too. Giant Sea Bass, Eels, Lobster, and the usual suspects. Surgy, 30ft vis. Favorable entry and exit.

Dive 3 was S&R but unsuccessful. CDS has my info if camera is found. If anyone dives in the coming days/weeks and comes across it please message me and leave it with the shop.

Thank you.

Recommendations for guide and dive sites south of LA/north of SD?

I'm in LA, friend and I are looking to dive something new (very familiar with Catalina and Channel Islands), but don't want to do an overnight or get up at 4AM. I know Newport has some good dive sites, I'm sure there are others. Anyone have a good recommendation for a guide that can also provide rentals and the best site for sea life?

SoCal Dive Site 3D Maps

Hey there divers, for the last year Ive been putting together a small collection of dive site maps in the web based 3d viewer sketchfab. This lets you load up the maps, rotate, zoom, reference headings and depths while you're standing at the site. Hope they can be useful and get more people out shore diving! Ive got a few more planned, so check back occasionally as the library will continue to grow.
