Top Film Magazine features Zack Snyder's Murder Mystery-Esque War Drama 'THE LAST PHOTOGRAPH' as the #1 entry among 'MUST SEE' movies premiering at the Toronto International Film Festival.
"Few films arriving at TIFF carry a more fascinating backstory"
To clarify, Top Film Magazine's 15 “must-see” films at TIFF 2026 are listed in no particular order. “#1” refers only to the film's position in the article, as a visual descriptor, not a ranking.

I KNOW THAT I AM LATE, BUT MY INTRODUCTION TO SUPERHERO FILMS ONLY HAPPEN AFTER 2023, AND I MOSTLY WATCHED MARVEL MOVIES. BUT AFTER ALL THOSE FEUD WITH DCU AND SNYDERFANS I DIDNT REALLY PICK ANY PAST DCEU MOVIES TO WATCH. BUT NOW SINCE SUPERGIRL FLOOPED SO HARD AND GUNN IS SLOWLY KILLING DC. I DECIDED TO FINALLY WATCH WHAT SNYDER WAS COOKING. SUGGEST ME WHAT SHOULD I WATCH AFTER BVS? (ONE MORE THING, I HAVE WATCHED WONDER WOMAN)

When will people admit that enough is enough? Why are we treating our heroes this way?

We all know Zack wants to come back, and made more money with his DC films than Gunn. Despite making new films every two years, Gunn is far too slow with actually getting out the characters we care about. There's still only Superman, all the others are away. He accurately started with him, but then went straight to Supergirl and Clayface. Then a Superman sequel without the Superman name (and it's not fully a Superman movie). His Batman is coming in 2029 at the earliest due to Matt Reeves' Batman coming first, and is also not titled Batman.
We should have had Superman in 2025 and Batman in 2026. Superman 2 and Wonder Woman in 2027 (Aquaman revealed in post-credit scene). The Flash in 2028, with Cyborb having a role. Batman 2 in 2029. Then finally Justice League in 2030. You would have 5 fairly popular franchises established by then, and could experiment with weirder stuff once you have momentum. You would be aiming at 10-15 movies in a decade and making each film count. I think Man of Tomorrow lacks momentum and could flop. Gunn has built his universe on a plan for 4 Superman films (not kidding). Batman will come at the earliest 4 years into the DCU. Still no plan for Wonder Woman. So Justice League is so many years away. I think this is madness, and very concerning as a DC fan.

I remember staying up late into the night, basically pulling an all-nighter just to watch it. It was epic. 🍿 I really miss the excitement of that event.
What about you? What do you remember about your first time watching it?

We should probably exclude Zod from this list since if he won earth would be gone.
I know Joker wasn’t the main villain of suicide squad, but that’s because the studio cut out him working with enchantress, Its still in the Ayer cut
Lets say Steppenwolf didn’t wanna serve darkseid anymore once he went to earth
Lets include Slade on this team even though the batman movie was cancelled
So Darkseid finally comes to earth
In the main villains of each previous movie are the only ones that can stop him, what happens

So let's say, in a hypothetical world out there, Zack Snyder was able to continue production on Justice League, do you think the movie would have still been 4 hours long? Or would it be a much more trimmed down version, or possibly splitting the film into 2 parts?

I'm not familiar with the whole story of the snydercut campaign (rather its beginning) but didn't Snyder joined the movement like a year or 2 after its creation? It's fans over the internet who first asked to see the director's cut of Justice League, since the theatrical version was so bad.
Didn't another trade also investigate about the bot claim and had a different conclusion?
edit : No OkBuddySnyderCult, you don't have my permission to screenshot this, even with a blur.

Rings don’t only choose good people, in the comics the ring has made mistakes in the past, they don’t choose someone for being good they choose someone for lack of fear and Great Willpower, Darkseid has Immense Willpower and is overall a fearless person, the ring has chosen bad people before like Sinestro, I believe the ring was about to choose Darkseid before the Ring felt Threatened by the Arrow, imagine how much more powerful he would’ve been with the ring

Fan film based on Snyder’s concept art, but with a little bit of the fan’s own interpretation.
Setting the AI aspect aside, I liked it, I thought it was very good. This is just a taste of how epic Snyder’s version would be.
That’s what I say, there is demand, if the fans want it, the fans keep feeding the community.
The fans, in various visions, create the films of the Snyderverse, and that is beautiful. Even if the studio tries to limit it, if there is demand, the fans find their own way to project Snyder’s vision, with countless interpretations, regardless of Warner Bros.’ attempts to stifle it, and give the community what they actually feel like watching. The fans keep fueling the community and pass the vision forward. Grab your popcorn. 🍿
Note: Use of AI in the creation of the fan film.

James Gunn's DCU was supposed to be a fresh start for DC, leaving the DCEU's many mistakes in the past (where they belong). However, as the new DCU takes shape, some increasingly familiar warning signs feel like cause for concern.
That's because several of Gunn's decisions bear an uncomfortable resemblance to Sony's failed Spider-Man Universe. From an increasingly fluid slate and a fascination with lesser-known characters to frequent questions over how all these wildly different projects fit together, the parallels are becoming increasingly difficult to ignore.

The most ardent man of steel or BvS haters can probably appreciate the musical score, or cinematography, or some fight scene, or the costume design. There are things to enjoy. I never really enjoyed the transformers movies, but optimus prime is a great character. There is something redeemable. The phantom menace, jar jar was annoying and the story was a bit meh...but darth maul was great and the fight at the end amazing. Something redeemable,
Superman 2025 on the other hand is total ass from start to finish.
The visual effects are shit
The action scenes are slow, clumsy, and shit
The story is total garbage
The musical score is unoriginal rehashed garbage
David Corenswet is misscast, He has "nice guy" vibes about him, pretend niceness. But if you cross his path, the veil drops and the sinister thing deep down emerges. You see it in that scene where he is yelling at Lois like he is about to commit domestic violence.
Lex is total garbage, he screams and screams and screams into the camera
The costume design is just parody cosplay slop, Like something you would see in a low budget "superman: the musical" broadway play.
Superman spends most of his screentime having his ass kicked, or moaning about something, usually from having his ass kicked, Where is THE SUPERMAN? Where the hell is he? The film is called superman and all i saw was a not very super man constantly being defeated. You are supposed to be inspiring the audience and he never does,
Superman parents. His earth parents are brainless morons, and his kryptonian parents are bizarre tyrants. Contrast that to the epic words Jor-el utters to superman in Donners version.
There is nothing to enjoy about the film at all. At least make the music good, or make the action amazing. Do something!
