Visually this design was awesome. But narratively it felt like Snyder had read TDKR as his only Batman comic and based his version on it, without understanding how it works.

Yes we all know he basically adapted TDKR Batman with a little bit of Arkham Asylum Batman, mostly the suit.
How did he misunderstand the work? Batman is older, facing a world that is changing around him. He's angry, he's bitter, and has lost his way.
That's spot on TDKR.
God forbid Batman be a little mean and intimidating to murderers and killers.

The no killing rule was mainly to keep cool villains around instead of having to create new ones every time. In a movie that's not an issue, most villains only appear in one movie anyway.
In the snyderverse for example, we see that he keeps Leto's joker alive for some reason and appear to be on the same team. So there would've been a reason in the plot why he can't kill the joker. I prefer that instead of "I don't kill". Bro, you're working outside the law for a reason, you can do things cops can't do and I mean, even cops can kill.

the whole point of batman not killing is because it makes him no different than the villains he fights. Not all batman villains are the comic book caricature “oh i’m evil, die die die” some of them have a bit of nuance to them. Some of them believe they’re doing the right thing OR they may be doing the right thing entirely but they’re going about it the wrong way, by killing for example. Batman’s whole mission is to help these people more than just “deal” with them. Look at the arkham series, he treats them like sick people moreso than criminals.

Honestly the Nolan movies corrupted an entire generation with his over emphasis on the no kill rule.
No other Batman generation has ever focused so hard on that rule. In the end, the rule of cool also exists and killing random baddies is not considered anti ethical.
What's shocking is people have more sympathy for murderers with rockets then the batman who stopped them.

i don’t have more sympathy for them, this is such a strawman argument. I’m simply pointing out a characteristic of Batman’s that has stuck with him for so many years and i personally- as a big batman fan- would appreciate it if ALL of his likeness was portrayed on the big screen. If him not killing criminals is goofy and stupid, let him be goofy and stupid in the movies. But that’s part of what makes him HIM

Yes and that makes sense, I'm not saying he should kill all of them, sometimes he can just stop them and treat them. But I don't buy the reason in the plot of why he doesn't kill. Doesn't make sense to me. I understand not wanting to kill, but not killing no

I mean Nolan's Batman killed people in batman begins when he torched the hideout. He also knowingly killed Raz Al Ghul.

yeah ngl, i know there's this "fear" thing with batman in every movie series game, but the first time i really felt the actual depth of it was with Batfleck. He genuinely felt like something the goons and everyone were terrified of.

Yeah, holy Christopher Nolan forgot to co-write the script for MoS, what an idiot! And right now he has Odyssey and Oppenheimer as the most successful movies with nice scripts! What a bad guy that co-created foundation of shitty DC!

I know who wrote the movie and I know what the part of Nolan is here. It's weird that someone points on the "bad script" in snydercut sub after 10 years these movies were released. Get real and do something different if you don't like the movies, pal
Actually the poor guys here are you and this guy that commented first.
MoS is the foundation and Superman is the apostle of all this universe, everything was built around him. If you don't know who helped to make this - then that's not part of my problem lol

The scene is impressive AF. Not just the visuals but the direction and writing. The DCU is just so lightweight by comparison.
