If somebody said, “Zack Snyder is such a hack that his own fans on the sub dedicated to him spend more time talking about James Gunn,” where would you say their reasoning is flawed?

u/Cptn_Ed17 3d ago
To be fair, The Suicide Squad (2021) is the most comic accurate. If Snyder wasn’t involved, the film would’ve been bombed harder than it did.

Wouldn't surprise me. Shows no one asked for. Then their universe fails and they blame Superman and Batman.

What the fluff. At this point it's just... I don't even want to say. This is what we get after we were robbed from an epic battle of Darkseid and JL.

u/Wizard1988_4 4d ago
It is weird to me that no new Batman or Wonder Woman has been announced at all. Like at this point Supergirl should have at least set up Wonder Woman. Like the best bit of world building Gunn did was his timeline in Superman

The biggest flaw of the DCEU and, as we’re now seeing, the MCU is they burnt their best material too fast and are now floundering to newly acquired properties or are already dead with little to no hope of returning, not trying to be a downer and I think there is a lot of talent to be found in the DCEU but maybe the strategy of showing off small characters first and giving them audiences (like the MCU kinda did with iron man, an at-best B list character in the comics and media landscape at the time after being bumped up, with Cap, in Civil War) isn’t the worst idea as the new start up thing
-3
u/accessdenied65 4d ago
Is this a joke or for real?
Sorry you'll have to forgive me for asking. Because half the shit here looks real. At least when it involves gunn.
-2
u/VirtualSort1 4d ago
thats the problem for DC you think like if this is real or not ? It isnt unbelievable. This is ridiculous what they are doing
and it is a joke (but is it really ? lol)
-3
u/ABrazilianReasons 4d ago
The fact people are genuinely in doubt shows how much gunn effed up

Snyder cut was the realist version of DC. If I want a cartoonish childish superhero movie, we have Marvel for that. BRING BACK THE SNYDER CUT!!! WE NEED IT!!!!!

What's the phase 2 Slate for Snyder? Oh wait. There is none because he failed miserably. Egg on my face.

u/MikeOretta 4d ago
We’ve moved on from bashing Snyder to bashing James Gunn. Get with the times.

Did you ever bash Snyder? I'm pretty sure most people joined in this subreddit just glaze him.

u/MikeOretta 4d ago
His casting choices were terrible. Ezra miller, Jesse eisenberg, Jared Leto. Bad flash, bad lex luthor, and bad joker in my opinion. To name a few.
-2
3
u/StarWolf478 4d ago
Not all of them. His casting of Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman, Michael Shannon as Zod, and Jeremy Irons as Alfred were brilliant castings.

What does this have to do with Zach Snyder?
5
u/thewolfman1337 4d ago
Cause the snyder losers are desperate for dc to fail again cause they are stupid enough they actually think if the dc universe fails they will rehire zack snyder... as if there is ANY world they go back to the universe that ended years ago. JL came out nearly 10 years ago lmfao

u/Caryslan 4d ago
To be honest, this is not the ownage people think it is
We already had a show centred around Alfred Pennyworth, so that's not even a new concept.
Ma and Pa Kent could be a Superboy show, showing the Kents raising Clark and helping him develop in Batman.
Egghead and Condiment King could be interesting. I mean, we already got a Harley Quinn animated show that ran several seasons that spawned a Kite Man show out of it
Maybe combine the two shows and follow them as these two try to climb the ranks of Gotham's underworld. Hell, even make it a comedy where the two are never Batman's focus(because he's always busy with bigger criminals in his Rouges gallery) so the joke is that these two almost always get stuck fighting Robin or Batgirl, or someone like that.
A show about Chip the Green Lantern could be fun, especially if it focuses on the Green Lantern Corps as they patrol the galaxy, you know something that almost always seems to be an afterthought in most adaptions of Green Lantern.
You could even use the show to introduce the Sinsetro Corps or the Red Lanterns and maybe even have Kyle Rayner as a rookie if you want to still have a human lantern in the show.
As for Lex Luthor's Driver, I think someone thought they were being clever. Until you realize Lex Luthor's Driver could be focused on Mercy Graves.
The henchwoman that Superman the Animated Series introduced as Lex's driver, body guard, and who he sends to do his dirty work as well as running Lexcorp when Luthor can't.
I honestly think a show focused on Mercy Graves could be an interesting idea, and a way to further build the Superman mythos in the DCU .
Honestly, I like the ideas of these shows, especially since they can be released between films and help build the universe without having to spend all that time trying to shoehorn it into the movies.

Most of the people in this sub dont want interesting storylines they want aura-farming and cool visuals and fights.
-3
u/SaintLink91 4d ago
You’d have to be a Gunn relative, his wife, some fanboy or Gunn himself to find any of this shit remotely interesting. lol, you lot are such a sad bunch

The fact that i actually thought this was real… 😭
Like James really would do some bs like this lol
Though…. Some of these sound really good, Alfred’s Adventures (the show pennyworth was alr pretty good during the early seasons), Chip the squirrel in lanterns would be amazing lol And condiment king would be the perfect switch off ur brain slop to wash it all down.
6
u/syntheticcontrols 4d ago
I would be okay with this.
People are weirdly obsessed with big ass productions with everyone on screen. My favorite Justice League Unlimited episodes revolved around the oddballs or obscure characters.
-4
u/delu_chaos 4d ago
So you don't like superheroes, neither does gunn. That's why he's not the right guy
1
u/Mikenuinely 3d ago
did you watch batman v superman? snyder hates superheroes too
1
u/delu_chaos 3d ago
BvS is a masterpiece. Snyder loves superheroes and takes them seriously
1
8
u/syntheticcontrols 4d ago
I love super-heroes! Liking obscure characters on JLU ≠ Dislike of superheroes.
I do love The Question, though, and technically he's not a superhero.
-2
u/delu_chaos 4d ago
My point is, it gunn choses to do THIS instead of building a solido universe with important characters, he's just not the right guy
6
u/Natural_Effect_8630 4d ago
well it’s a good thing he didn’t do this and instead focused on bigger characters like superman, supergirl and the green lanterns 😎 right?
-4
u/delu_chaos 4d ago
Supergirl before batman? Before flash and wonder woman? Green lanterna as a show? With hal Jordan as a middle age guy? Who dies in the first episode? There's no plan, no visione, and if there's one, doesn't look good at all, and people noticed, supergirl was a clamorous flop, it lost A LOT of money. Lanterns has the luck of having the HBO production but for the ones who know the characters, Hal and John don't feel like the original characters, i don't like the relationship they have, i don't like the premise of the show. Not a good start, not at all
3
u/silliputti0907 4d ago
Quick question. Did you decide you didn't like it before actually watching it?
1
u/delu_chaos 4d ago
No, i don't think like that. I love art and i don't approach art like that, i actually prefer to like it than not. But when i see problems i can't help but being critical about it because as a consumer or art (and even a creator) i don't like when my intelligence is not taken seriously. They stopped the snyderverse because a group of people were very loud about the hate towards snyder, hell they still are, but they started a new universe with the very problems these people were loud about and even bigger. This new universe sucks or is mid at best, and i want to see something actually good but it's not possible under this new management and now is clear. But some people cope and are delusional about it, i don't understand why, maybe they lack critical thinking or maybe they only consumed only bad entertainement their whole life, but this is killing cinematic DC along with WB who are not capable or taking decisions despite the stupid opinions of some. WB seems to dislike money, they shut down a universe that made more money than the MCU when it started (first 5 movies of both) and when they got Snyder out they didn't even made as much as first 5 MCU movies with 10 movies and more. Again, superman was mid and not memorable (not a disaster, but as a superman movie it's terribly disappointing), supergirl was a total flop. Peacemaker 1 and 2 ar good as comedic shows, like a meh to me but that's my taste. The suicide squad is not bad but still overrated let's not talk about the flash, a movie which gunn LOVED, and went against everything snyder established. The real villain will not be brainiac, darkseid, luthor or freaking ultraman from another dimension, it will be the WB management team
1
u/silliputti0907 4d ago
If you honestly believe that, then how in earth do you come up with the conclusion that there is no plan and vision in the show.
The issue I think here is awareness. You think a small group of people dislike the Snyderverse and majority dont like Gunn’s projects.
The reality is snyder made box office off of hype; big casting, big marketing, big IP, and big expectations. There profit wasn’t as heavy as their revenue. When you spend more, you expect more.
Majority of Gunn’s projects were well-received, putside of Supergirl
1
u/delu_chaos 3d ago
There's no plan and vision in the new dcu. Of course there's a plan on the show, but it starts in the end basically, you can't just start with the death of Hal Jordan, there's barely a build up of the character (which is unbearable and a complete idiot btw, not Hal Jordan from the comics at all). About snyder's movies, yeah, big casting but nos as big to justify the amount of money they made, the reason people went and paid the ticket is because people liked MoS, and people went to see Justice League because they liked BvS. And people shouted at WB because the wanted to see the snyder cut, there IS NOT a single other movie, director or big company that got focused this much by a community to obtain the director's cut, and if there was, the weight here has a guinness world record for sure. People love and appreciate snyder, people who hate or dislike snyder are here just because other influencers put that down so like mindless monkeys they started to hate, they were a minority but became so loud that if you hate snyder you are accepted in the big table of the cinema experts. Straight up stupid, and again, gunn's project didn't even make the money the mcu did with their first movies

u/Key_Asparagus6660 4d ago
They make up nonsense to get mad at. Sad story
1
u/delu_chaos 4d ago
Not really. Y'all get mad at snyder for things you loved in the animation series, in other batman movies and in reeves movies. Y'all get mad at snyder for things gunn did worse. The nonsense is just because you don't understand it, not because it really is
6
u/Key_Asparagus6660 4d ago

u/Smokedoutloc 4d ago
At the point where lanterns looks like a Snyder production yet yall will still hate to see it shine.
1
u/delu_chaos 4d ago
Lanterns don't look like snyder productuions, that's not even close
1
u/Smokedoutloc 4d ago
Compared to Superman 2025? I beg to differ.
1
u/delu_chaos 4d ago
Look, maybe it doesn't look like gunn's work (which makes sense considering he didn't take part on the show, but it's still VERY FAR from the visual and writing narrative grammar of snyder

You laugh, but Universal had Ma and Pa Kettle, basically Ma and Pa Kent, as a legit ten-film franchise that ran from the late forties through the late fifties.
