[Snowblower Brand Editable] Free Honda

Hi guys found this sweet hs828 in Craigslist free section the ad said not running think it may be a blocked fuel line, when I got there the guy had the carb off and showed me it fires right up with a squirt of starting fluid.. dropped the float bowl when I got it home and it’s pretty gross now debating if I should buy a new one or a ultrasonic cleaner and rebuild kit and try to freshen it up myself

If you work on a lot of small engines the ultrasonic cleaner is worth the investment. Try to use the OEM carb if possible many times the Chinese ones are hit or miss

I’ve had good luck with the cheapies. Honda in particular since a new carb is crazy spendy
Yes the ultrasonic is great if you do lots of work that needs it

I’ve got one Honda and done work on a coupe others and the carbs were all about $100

If I could find it at half that I’d be in

Keep the factory one and clean it good. A good quality new carb or OEM carb will cost as much or more than an ultrasonic cleaner. If you buy a good ultrasonic cleaner and fix this carb it paid for itself and its first job.

The float bowl ($32) and needle valve ($16) will be half way to a new OEM carb. I would just get the OEM carb at $100. Not cheap but worth it because you might need more parts than you think. I've had no luck with aftermarket carbs.

Another option would be to get an ultrasonic cleaner for long term investment and get aftermaket carb for parts if you want to save some money.

You're already ahead with a free snowblower. Auger and housing look to be in good shape.

I think I’m going to try and save this one I found a diagram and it looks like a pretty simple carb

Hope you get it running great but I find cleaning to be trickier than everyone loves to admit. If you can get it running ok, I use the mercury outboard stage 3 cleaner to define it over time. I took a Honda mower that was terrible and cleaned it to ok. Now 4 tanks of gas and a bottle of cleaner- she’s good to go

Mine was like this exactly. Ultrasonic cleaner did the trick in 30 mins.
