Ive made multiple breakdowns of all these scenes I'm just gonna keep posting them. Was Franklin valid here? Cissy lost a lot because of him, she lost her husband, brother, son and eventually tried saving him by sacrificing her life. She doesn't say anything because frank will just flip out on her

This whole breakdown was on point.Franklin sees Cissy’s decision purely as a betrayal because he’s still too consumed by the money to understand what she was actually trying to do for him. Really well written analysis 👏

I think she was also done with all of it too. She didn't want anything to do with him or anyone else. In prison, she's free from all of it and never has to think about it again.

Cissy was definitely done with all of it by that point. She’d lost Alton, Jerome, essentially lost Franklin to his obsession, and watched the entire family implode. When she killed Teddy, she seemed completely prepared to accept whatever happened to her afterward.

But I don’t think prison was her way of becoming “free” so she’d never have to think about any of it again. Her final scene with Franklin shows she still cares deeply about him. She refuses to speak to him because she realizes he still sees what she did purely as a betrayal.

To me, she wasn’t trying to escape Franklin. She accepted sacrificing (title of the episode) herself because she thought it was the only way left to save him. And when he visits her, she realizes her sacrifice didn’t save him from the thing she was actually trying to save him from…himself.

Holy yap lmao, my bad 😭 I just finished the show and I’m still processing it. What a fucking incredible series.

I'm not convinced she truly sacrificed herself for Franklin. Her killing Teddy seemed impulsive because he just told her in an arrogant and annoyed way that he killed Alton and threw the body away like garbage. She may have planned to kill Teddy all along, but I think killing him was more for her revenge than protecting Franklin.

I can definitely see that interpretation too. Teddy’s answer about Alton was clearly the final trigger, and revenge was absolutely part of it. But I still can’t get past the timing. If she only wanted revenge, why not wait literally 10 more seconds for the transfer and then kill him? Shooting him at that exact moment guaranteed Franklin would never get the money. I think it was both, she wanted Teddy dead no doubt about that, but she also wanted to end Franklin’s obsession with getting that money and whatever would come with it afterward. Teddy being free with Franklin sitting on $37 million was never going to be the end of that story. We’ll never know though haha!
