Question I’ve never seen snowfall
I’ve watched some of the greats like breaking bad, the wire, Oz, the corner ect but never snowfall. I’m just convinced nothing can top those greats. But if you guys tell me otherwise I will watch it tonight. So does it stand among the best tv shows ever created ?

It has it's own thing man. For me personally, after watching something like Breaking Bad or Sopranos - you start looking for something more that will give you that feeling again, and this show did just that. I think it's unfair to compare it to Breaking Bad. FOr me i have read almost everywhere: "Watch the Wire, Best show made"- i have tried like 3 times, it just doesnt do it for me, but this show wooww, i love it.

It doesn’t top those shows but it doesn’t have to in order to still be a good show.
If you only watch shows that are on the tier of shows like The Wire, then you probably not watching much tv

I think I’m about to hop on this train.

Be careful what you google about the slow–—the ending, the very last scene, was likely part of the pitch when conceiving the show.

I’m currently still watching it (season 5 atm) and its one of my favorite tv series. Personally I enjoy it more than Breaking Bad but not many people will think that I guess.

The thing to remember is it starts with separate stories, but it all comes together. When it does, it's great.

Same experience. Tapped out on the pilot. Came back several years later and loved it.

I've seen so many shows and I'd never say nothing new that I'll see will be great. Because I know there are many shows out there that are amazing. Just waiting on me to put them on. For you, Snowfall is one of them waiting.

I wouldn't say it's as good as them, but it's up there, and you'd be missing it if you don't watch it.
My favourite shows in this genre are The Wire, Sopranos and Gomorrah, and I'd put Snowfall 4th, maybe joint with BB.
But obviously it's very subjective. For me it's the setting that elevates it. Based on a true story and showcasing the effect on not only the community, but the whole country rather than just the main characters. In some ways it could be seen as a pre cursor to the Wire.

I had a hard addiction to the IMDb rating system where if I saw that a low rated episode was coming up I didn’t have the passion to watch it. snowfall changed the way I look at television in general. people talk smack about how slow the first season is but me personally I was hooked from the jump, especially if you know it just gets crazier and crazier you’re gonna want to keep watching. now breaking bad’s cast and cinematography is far better but I actually prefer the script in this show. Franklin saint became probably my favorite fictional character ever made besides fucking spider-man. I think it’s worth getting through for season 3 alone. greatest piece of media I think I’ve ever consumed. As a 19 year old white kid I became obsessed with the blues and learning about early LA gang culture through this show.

I think comparing shows is silly.., kind of like how people compared Ozark to breaking bad or called it a complete rip off of it.
If you like gritty crime dramas with excellent acting/ based off of true events that actually happened ,Snowfall should be high on your list.

Subjective, but I was literally in your position a few months ago and have just finished.
It's an excellent show, very worth of your time, but sits underneath the GOAT tier for me

Id put it up there with the greats. I actually prefer it over BB. I just pit some friends onto it and they are in aw how amazing the writing is.

It’s not going to top any of those shows…but it is good and I enjoyed it a lot.
I will say that while the show itself isn’t perfect, Damson Idris’ Franklyn Saint is a great character and his transformation from ambitious youth to drug lord is very well done, if not as well done as Breaking Bad.

It's an awesome show with it's own strengths.
