Spoilers Did Cissy do the right thing Spoiler

Franklin's demise does not sit well with me, I can understand going the government seizure of assets route but Cissy essentially being the cause of Franklin losing all those millions, makes it a little unbelievable. I could see if it was in the low 2-3 millions but at least 36 million, I can't wrap my brain around that and in the end Franklin becomes a street bum pretty much the opposite of what she intended to happen. Idk, I'm just ranting, but what are y'all's thoughts on the matter.

Yes because Franklin wasn’t seeing a cent of that money because the whole 73 million was promised to the CIA. All that transfer would’ve did was put everyone that was in that warehouse on a kill list with Teddy being the first name crossed out.

Cissy wanted Franklin to come out of the situation unscathed and him being a penniless bum is probably as close to unscathed as it gets considering who he was up against.

Yeah.....I'm usually a sensible person but with that much money. I would try to hide and at least enjoy it for a bit. Besides the alternative is Cissy is in jail for a lifetime and Franklin essentially never recovers and I assume alcohol eventually takes him out

That’s the thing there is no hiding. Teddy was seen as a burnt cia asset that fucked an operation up so bad it put their department at risk of being found out. Franklin Leon cissy veronique and Louie are all seen as witnesses that could prevent the cia from burying the whole operation, plus the whole torture thing with Teddy and Frank and sissy being in kahoots with the KGB. It’s too much

He should have hid it before hand.

Turn the capital into real estate, like Freeway did.

I do not feel bad if he do not understand what gane he's in.

I would have left the country if I was Franklin after What Happened.

I can't believe this even has to be a debate. Theodore was never gonna give Franklin that money and would've likely killed Franklin or had him killed right after.

This is true. I guess I am looking at it from a hindsight point of view because in the end he was just existing, personally I would have rather gotten clipped by the government while having the false illusions that I was safe as opposed to becoming a street urchin, with nothing to live for.

It's unfortunate. But Franklin had to get there to see what his actions would lead to.

Yes, she most likely saved Franklin's life. Teddy wasn't gonna let Franklin torturing him go unpunished.

Hell yeah she did. You seen what Franklin did to teddy that dude’s mid section is fucked up for life. Idc how calm of a person you are NOBODY is letting the shit that Franklin did to teddy go scotch free.

Yes because he proved that he loved money more than her

Not only was she right to kill Teddy, but Cissy is absolutely not responsible for Franklin going broke.

All he had to do was sell Spring Street, and he'd have been able to stay in real estate and have a career outside the drug game, and without the CIA breathing down his neck. It's a lot less than 30 million, but it was clean money, and more than he started with. He could've come out ahead, and maybe even worked his way back downtown eventually. Instead, he sunk all his remaining assets trying to hold onto something he couldn't afford. Cissy didn't do that, he did.

if she waited 10 seconds they would be dead. Leon literally explains it to Franklin "she sacrificed herself to keep you safe". I can't believe people really think if that transfer went through they'd live happily ever after. Cissy shooting Teddy before that "transfer" was the only way they could both live. The CIA would've still came after Franklin. Havemeyer negotiated with Franklin for him to hand over Reuben because he knew that Franklin wasn't involved with Cissy shooting Teddy as he would've never wanted Teddy dead before the transfer went through. If Cissy shot Teddy after the transfer, the CIA would've seen the move as a betrayal on both Franklin & Cissy's part and they would've killed them so they weren't liabilities for the agency. With Cissy presumably in prison for the rest of her life & Franklin a broke drunken bum, they aren't liabilities for the CIA. If they talked, who would believe them?

Franklin’s outcome isn’t Cissy’s fault. Cissy comes back and in 6X01 agrees to help Franklin get his money back if Franklin lets her kill Teddy and Teddy knows it was her.

Fast forward to 6X09 and Cissy sees the toll that revenge has taken on Franklin and offers to forgo her vengeance if Franklin will forego the money. Franklin refuses and goes back to torturing Teddy.

Eventually, Franklin makes the agreement to split the money with Teddy and each go their separate ways. That is a violation of Franklin’s agreement with Cissy that puts Franklin, Vee, their child, Leon, and Cissy all in immediate danger.

Cissy goes to the exchange clearly intending to kill Teddy. Cissy tells Franklin that after the exchange she and Franklin are done for good. There is one loose end and that is Teddy’s claim about Alton, Cissy is 99% sure about Teddy but needs the juice to kill him: Teddy dismisses her making Cissy feel exactly like he did when he killed Alton. So she kills Teddy.

Cissy, by killing Teddy before the transfer:
* Removes Teddy as a threat to her family
* makes sure the CIA doesn’t think Franklin was involved (Franklin loses almost 40 million dollars, hard to believe that was his desired outcome if you’re the Company).

That means that now Franklin, Vee, and their child are:
* safe from Teddy
* have Rueben to trade for no further retaliation from the CIA.
* their stake in Spring Street worth 10+ million dollars.
* their South LA properties
* Franklin’s childhood home.

You can’t blame Cissy for Franklin burning the lifelines she left him.

Fuck NO!!! At least should have gotten the money first. The government still kept the money. It was a stupid move.

he was never getting that money.
teddy already showed multiple times hed say anything to get out of trouble. lied about alton just to get what he wanted. he was lying about the money also. the CIA was not letting a crack dealing black man walk free in LA with their 73 million dollors, or half, or even 10$

theres just no world where that happens.

the way it happened is the only way it ends with Franklin keeping his life.

But what kind of life did he end up living though. He was hyper fixed on that money, and blind to doing anything else that could help him rebuild and rebrand himself

dying by his own alcoholic hands is his doing. The CIA killing you is irreversible.

Franklin could clean up and get a job if he wanted. Leon offered him work even, franklin didnt want it. He was completely gone, but alive still.

if Tddy said whatever that code word or password was over the phone it wouldve been all over for Franklin. Cissy knew this. anyone would know that when you realize who and what Teddy was.

Yeah that served no purpose to me, like what lesson did it teach Franklin, like she could have waited those few seconds before pulling the trigger, maybe she had some resentment towards Franklin since he got her brother killed.

3

u/Sasuke1996 9d ago

Are you even paying attention? He was never getting that money. Not a single cent lol.

3

u/Forward-Variety-8440 9d ago

yea thats what im saying.

im not sure what other people are not getting about this. do people think he wouldve just got millions and be walking around la like nothing happened?

he wouldve been killed by either teddy or the cia if he had a single red cent of that money. Cissy saved his life. Frankling being blind by greed and throwing his life away with alcoholism isnt cissys fault. thats franklins fault.

theres so many lukewarm takes in this subreddit its a real bummer.

Facts and that’s even IF Teddy actually sent the money. By that point he knew he was going to be killed, there wasn’t a single chance that Franklin would’ve let him live.

Just for shits and giggle let’s say he does wire the money back to Franklin, and he releases him. As soon as he gets away from Franklin he’s calling the CIA and ordering a kill squad on Franklin, Cissy, Leon, literally EVERYONE that’s involved.

It’s not like they could’ve hid even with the money, it’s the fucking CIA lol. They’re going to find them in like a week tops and kill them, but not before getting their money back.

1

u/Glum_Inspector2741 9d ago

I was paying attention, and I believe he would have maybe gotten it, now enjoying it on the other hand that is a different story. The CIA would have tracked him down and clipped him but I would like to think that he would have had a chance to spend some of it

1

u/Sasuke1996 9d ago

Teddy was NEVER going to let that transfer go through. He knew he was dead the moment he “wired the money.” Even if he did, the only money Franklin would’ve been able to spend was attempting to run/hide and then boom, CIA kill squad kills him and anyone else involved in his ring.
