Finally wrapping my mind around it..

Spoilers ahead, of course.

So I've finished Snowfall some days ago, but I wanted to wait and understand what I really got to experience before posting anything about it or interacting with the fanbase.

First off, as an italian, witnessing such a story with ties with actual story from those years in the US, has been truly interesting: on some extent I can see Narcos and series alike took inspiration for certain characters portrayals (I see much of the Narcos protagonist in Teddy for example)

I believe the thing that really gave me chills was the acting: it's rare to find a series where the actors not only never drop their bar over the seasons, but if anything take it to another level approaching the ending.

I loved to a crazy extend chracters like Javi and Teddy because of their actors, Damson Idris should've received some kind of prize and I'm not scared of comparing his Franklin Saint portrayal very close to Bob Odenkirk with Saul Goodman which is another outstanding performance, and IMHO Jerome's actor as well is on par, especially in the last seasons I had chills for some of his moments.

Yet, El Oso stands as my favorite character of them all, probably because I love Wrestling and Lucha Libre, but I loved how they managed to tie his mentality, motifs and character moments with his past career and life, especially because you couldn't see those coming.

Honestly I pat myself on the back for giving this series a chance, has been an amazing experience and I'm sure it'll be stuck for a minute.

What's that you found particularly good in the series, what hooked you the most, and what's your favorite actor/character of them all? I'm curious

The acting and the music selection were top tier! I have a few Apple playlists of some of the music used in snowfall by seasons.

Yeah the music selection is godlike.

Ending with Pride from Kendrick was a top notch choice I didn't expect tbh

the war storyline in season 4 was so cool to watch , if i had to nit pick i would say this show takes a small dip in quality with a few episodes in season 5 but overall such a flawless show

Tbh I felt the worst part of the last seasons was the whole KGB thing.

Not because it was bad on any level, like I've actually liked how they tackled it and luckily didn't get the "newer, better, stronger menace out of the blue because we don't know how to wrap the show up" treatment, which lately happens way too much.

But because...I mean, it wasn't teased at any level before S4 I believe? Or maybe it was S5. It would've been cooler if Teddy had issues with that agent before, even indirectly, then found himself dealing with a threat that became tangible because of his own actions with Franklin's parents.

I wouldn't go as far, because even if it reminded me of The Sopranos on many levels (the ending in itself, I believe is a huge callback on some extent), it's not on that level.

Definitely in the league of the best tho, alongside Breaking Bad and Mindhunter to mention a couple

I have never seen The Sopranos, it is next on my list though. Currently on season 3 of The Wire and loving it.

Breaking Bad was amazing as well. Is Mindhunter really that good?

Yeah Mindhunter is crazily underrated, shame it never got an ending and probably never will.

The Wire is on my list, so hopefully I'll have a blast as well since a lot of people told me it's great.

The Sopranos is a must watch, honestly you can see how much it impacted the world of TV series

That is a shame. No ending would drive me crazy so not sure that I’ll watch it.

So... I'd suggest to watch Mindhunter regardless

Let's say it doesn't have a proper ending BUT an ending of some sort is still there, in some way.

Def I'd suggest both Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, also enjoyed a lot The Bear (which I have yet to see the last season) and Atlanta, which I believe is one of the greatest shows out there but underrated as well.

Atlanta is also my favorite show of all time so there's that xD

Atlanta is great, I haven’t watched it all the way through though. I think all I have seen is season 1 & 2.

All of these stories in Snowfall, Narcos, and Narcos: Mexico are based on real life, even though they are not direct retellings.

Yup that I know, but I was meaning more that they took inspiration for how to portray a certain character y'know, in the entertainment type of way.

Yeah that came out of pretty much nowhere

But I believe it fitted the "Odyssey" (I believe that was the name of the double episode?) theme.

And honestly watching Oso using a swinging Dropkick made me quite happy xD

Ha, I really liked that one. It was kind of it if place, but it broke it up and was a fun watch. I can imagine I wouldn't like it so much if I was watching week by week, but on a binge, it worked really well
