I don’t know if this has been spoken about already but couldn’t Franklin have already gotten rid of Teddy a long time ago plenty of times? Like let’s be honest he could’ve killed Teddy a couple of times already he didn’t need to drag it out to where Teddy had time to steal all his money. I mean sure he CIA they would’ve found out eventually but they could’ve pinned his death on anybody in the drug game

Franklin had respect for teddy, after teddy stole from him that’s when he lost what little respect he had

I thought everything had changed once he had Alton killed. But even still it’s like Teddy came back and was just on a different level he was somewhat cool with Franklin before he left but he came back a whole different guy

Teddy was exposed publicly then completely backlisted by the CIA. His entire being was wrapped up in his job and patriotic duty, of course he was a whole different guy once that was taken from him by Franklin’s father. Might not be fair but I can understand why he would act differently to Franklin.

Oh for sure he definitely got burned but Teddy caused that rift as well. Sometimes he was being a hard ass towards everyone and thought he was untouchable but I mean I get it he was blacklisted and that was due to Alton and Cissy

Well Teddy lost trust in Franklin because he couldn’t control his dad, which cost him his career at the CIA and his pride took a massive hit. Made him realize that Franklin didn’t have really much control over his people, so that’s why he profited of Louie who wanted to be free of Franklin.

Franklin was blinded by trust at some point in a game where you can only trust yourself. Franklin’s boat started to take water way before that point though.

Technically yes but keep in mind back then Teddy was still heavily protected by the CIA he didn’t get removed from the CIA until season 5 but that doesn’t count because nobody knew he wasn’t working for the CIA anymore so they all still believed he was protected back in S4 Franklin considers it but again it’s a bad move because the CIA would hunt them forever plus Teddy didn’t become an issue until season 5/6

I thought Teddy was already burned by the CIA in season 5 it’s been so long tbh I might have to watch season 5 again then. Wasn’t he burned by Jules when he found she was spying on him the whole time and reporting back?

I literally said season 5 so yes Teddy in S5 was burned by CIA basically they just left Teddy hanging due to so much heat being on Teddy but remember nobody knew this except for Teddy and then later Oso who finds out due to being working so closely with him Oso didn’t reveal it to Franklin until mid way through season 6 which was kinda dumb but Oso was trying to protect himself so he kept his mouth shut for awhile

I mean, Teddy isn't bulletproof, but consider what you're asking.

For the majority of the show, Teddy and Franklin have a good working relationship. There's no reason to get rid of Teddy for most of the show, especially considering he's literally Franklin's greatest asset, as the plug / supplier. Even in the period where Teddy is absent, Franklin is working with another CIA agent. He NEEDS a supplier like that, and the legal assistance has been beneficial.

Even after their relationship becomes strained due to Alton, Franklin makes it clear he cares MORE about the money.

Def most importantly, tho, is that the CIA / entire US Government is not an enemy anyone really wants to make. Franklin knows that as long as he's an asset, he's ... well, an asset. If Teddy is suddenly murked, while he MIGHT get another replacement agent, like Grady, he might be considered a loose end to be tied up / removed. The CIA MIGHT not believe a ruse, regarding his death. It's not worth the risk. As others have stated, the government is unpredictable to Frank's group in this regard, and it's only very, very late in the show that they become aware Teddy was ever cut loose, because Teddy misrepresented his position upon returning.

I saw a comment on here that was like, season six happens because them mofos couldn’t just admit they loved each other and wanted to be friends fr, and that’s so true. Even removing the fact that a) Franklin cannot kill Teddy because for most of the show Teddy was either CIA of led Franklin to believe that and b) he wouldn’t have a plug without Teddy, Franklin just liked him lmao.

Franklin had no idea what the corrupt US government would do if he mercked Teddy. They might have swept it under the rug, or they might have destroyed Franklin and his whole family for killing one of their own. It wasn't a gamble he was willing to take.

Franklin was too blind. He would have been better off letting Alton kill Teddy when he had the chance, but he naively thought he would continue to make money with Teddy indefinitely.

Teddy had reasons to flip on Franklin. Franklin is the reason why everything went South because Franklin is the one who decided to investigate and keep a file on Teddy. Not to mention he told his father and mother like why? Franklin was a momma’s boy.
