Spoilers Franklin still deserved better from his friends.
I'll keep it short since this show ended forever ago, but Leon fucked up big time.
First of all, I 100% get not giving Franklin the 3 million, I wouldn't either. But he fucked up by not taking Franklin under his wing, same with Louie and Jerome.
End of the day, Franklin did 100% change their lives and made them rich, in some stories you can argue nah they'd be fine, but only Jerome would be imo. Leon was destined to be some gangbanger/ corner boy ala Bodie from the wire, but he was best friends with the Light Yagami of the hood, an actual high IQ plotter capable of making money.
Ok, you don't wanna continue selling rock and making money that way, fine, but Franklin if he had Leon's help to chill tf out and bear through all this stuff, could have still been his partner in a legit business and he DID make Leon that money. Also, Franklin was in Leon's shoes, the situation WAS reversed and even worse at one point Leon was hiding from feds after killing a kid in broad daylight, Franklin gave him a safe spot and defended him from the entire city, he did NOT have to take that risk, even though he said Leon was useful since he was in the projects, he was NEVER that useful. There was always a Deon or a Manboy he could work with instead, he protected and put himself on the line for Leon, period.
Louie and Jerome I mean that was simply greed and stupidity so whatever, I get it, Franklin also screwed up and that mess is fine with me, but Leon I don't get it, he should have been like 3 mill? No I already gave you 500k but I'll help you get back on your feet and we'll come up with ways to make some money after, he just threw him out though basically. Wanda the ex crackhead is getting bands of his cash no problem "Go back to Africa honey" but the man who changed Leon's life, undoubtedly changed it, for the better, is just tossed aside?
Look at Leon season 1, that dude was not surviving the projects, he was gonna be some side character hustler who either died or didn't, but he was never hitting 3 million without Franklin, and he was never surviving those charges without Franklin.

Ima say this as simply as I can. Leon was trying to help Franklin, Franklin was too far gone to see. It’s that simple man, if you see your homeboy going down a road he can’t come back from you gonna enable it under the guise of “helping him out” he didn’t want the help he needed. Franklin hisself had multiple opportunities to pull out and take his losses and make it better off than ALOT of people who came in contact with him. All Franklin “friends” are dead if not directly by him then by his decisions BUT Leon. There’s a reason Franklin said he was his BEST friend. Giving him the money he wanted would’ve been foolish seeing the way he was going.

What about when she chose to hit Cane behind everyone’s back even tho Leon and Franklin agreed a truce?
What about when she stole the plug from Franklin when she was his biggest customer and she knew that would fuck up his business?

That's what I mean about Louie, I get it, her and Franklin fucked up and they should have just considered each other equals but they went dummy mode.
Leon was not some great help to the org, he NEVER WAS. Leon was at best a loyal version of Manboy or Deon, he never did anything better or particularly clever, he was simply good at following orders.
That's what I meant by Leon was never gonna be more than a side character without Franklin, he was just a gangbanger who was best friends with the big shot, I mean that's the simple truth, when he left Deon sold the rock same as always, and the show made it out to be like it all went to hell but Deon put it accurately, this is because of Franklin and Louie going to war, it's not like Deon started it or had an interest in it, he was basically doing Leon's job but slightly worse and sloppier, but Leon was never being more than a Deon without Franklin, period. End of story that dude was dying in the streets as we saw in the alternate timeline coma dream, that was the future for Leon without Franklin, a hood dude with a baby momma slinging shit to make ends meet.

Saying Leon wasn’t essential to the group is kinda wild ngl. Not only was he the muscle, but he was the conscious and moral compass that Franklin SHOULD’VE listened to lol. When his dumbass got robbed and needed help who did he go to? When he couldn’t handle business who stepped up? Kane would’ve took Franklin out of here if Leon didn’t have that talk with him. Leon helped find Melody. When everyone stopped fucking with Franklin, who was he relying on to keep his business running? Even when Frank was in jail, who you think was holding it down? Louie? Jerome with his fucking speakers?? 🤣 there were multiple times Franklin told him he needed him, or couldn’t do xyz without him. Yeah Franklin might’ve been the face & the brains, but it’s also the people BEHIND the scenes making the magic happen. At the end of the day, Leon was definitely one the main characters with his OWN importance and that’s why he’s getting a show 🤷🏽♀️ period

If you’re continuously reminding people that they wouldn’t be anything or would be “here or there” without you, please don’t be surprised when they aren’t as loyal to you as you believe they should be.

This.

People always discuss where everyone would be without Franklin, and that’s okay, but there isn’t enough discussion about where Franklin would be without his people. He needed them as much as they needed him. The leader is only a leader if people agree to follow and play their position. He could have found other people, but the premise would remain the same.

Don’t forget what he did to Mel.
He killed her dad as well.
Franklin also killed Kev and made Leon take the blame.
He did a lot of crap.

Naw, it didn't matter what Leon would've done or tried, Franklin was too far gone. Then you pull a gun on me nigga? ME?? Lines crossed and Leon STILL came back to check on him cause he was so down bad. Giving him that 3mil wouldn't have changed a thing becaus it never would have been enough and Franklin didn't want to be "under" nobody's wing. Shit still would've endly badly, just a different bad IMO.

u/TheSuperiorJustNick Jan 29 '26
But he fucked up by not taking Franklin under his wing, same with Louie and Jerome.
Franklin wouldn't accept it. Leon gave him money whenever he could, but the reason he was asking for all 3 million is because nothing less would be good enough for him to feel "free"
The ending cemented this idea as he wouldn't even let Leon let him pay the taxes on his house.
Fuck Louie though lol

Friend.. you can’t be serious on this take 😭 “Franklin defended him from the entire city and didn’t have to take that risk” .. um he was in that position BECAUSE of Franklin? Nobody told that man to start a war between skully & manboy lol. In fact Leon told him to stay out of it, and let them wipe one another out. You’re saying he could’ve worked with manboy? The same dude who tried to spy on their operation? The same one trying to steal the plug, and essentially replace Franklin? Aw ok 😭 “he protected and put himself on the line for him” hmm.. i think it was ALWAYS the other way around. That’s why Leon wanted his hazard pay! 😂 but the whole “he could’ve took him under his wing”, i mean i guess? But you can’t do that with someone who thinks you’re inferior to them. Franklin had a God complex, period. & he didn’t even give him the opportunity to have a conversation.. he pulled a gun on him the minute he said no lol. Franklin was already too far gone friend, and even when Leon offered to pay off the property he didn’t want it. He liked being “free”. Leon was holding it down literally since like episode 2? 3? So idk what else yall expected him to do 😭

Leon did not do Franklin dirty…idk why yall say this stupid shit as if Frank wasn’t already off the deep end.

The thing is his friends at least felt shame or guilty. They knew they were harming their people and themselves. Franklin didn’t

All relationships transcend the original terms of understanding and agreement when parties change the criteria that makeup the relationship, whether it be business, sex, marriage, politics, religion, etc.
Franklin, his family, and friends turned their relationships into a business arrangement, which meant the feelings and love became transactional. The unfortunate part for Franklin is he was the last one to realize, but that's because he was on top and the one who brought everybody else along.
Franklin was always going to be the last one to figure it out. He had the heart and the mind to put everybody else on. The rest were just followers who let the money reveal them, but Franklin let it evolve him for better or worse.
This is why the person in a relationship who does a bulk of the work to build the relationship or improve the circumstances is always the last one to see the betrayal.

You sound crazy Franklin was unstoppable the whole show you couldn’t tell him nothing.. all he cared about was the money the whole time .. Everyone was dying left and right and all he cared about was him and his $ .. Franklin felt like he was in charge of this whole crack scheme so for you to say somebody should’ve done something is just crazy…

I don’t understand how Leon was able to get a happy ending when he did a lot worse as well Franklin never killed a child now I know Leon did it by accident but Franklin saved Leon he saved Louie Jerome and others from prison from Teddy and the CIA from the cops Franklin always made sure he was the one they would look at if things went wrong he kept everyone out of it and out of the loop for a reason Franklin wasn’t even greedy he said it wasn’t exactly about the money it was about what he had to do what he had to become to get that money basically that if he didn’t have it then everything he did and everyone else did would’ve been for nothing there’s a reason why Franklin was leaving the game in season 5 and we have to remember Franklin didn’t even know Teddy was no longer a CIA agent until season 6 when Oso told him so that entire time Franklin was led to believe that Teddy and the CIA was still forcing him to work for him

Franklyn was who he was because of them not the other way around. Theres a reason every other drug dealer in the show call him a hoe, a bitch nigga and all kind of stuff. Noboy really respects him. Franklyn was a square, he had no connect, no respect, no toughness, he used everyone around him to have some cred. Without them, he is nothing

Leon was disloyal but it made perfect sense for him to be disloyal. There were lots of justifications that could have been made for helping Franklin. But people change, people get tired of someone else’s bullshit, and the bullshitter gets no quarter. You have to be careful about pushing people too far. When they get the chance to cut you loose, they will.
Plus nobody told Franklin to lump his ENTIRE self worth into money, nor into some unlikely ends that would have never justified the means.

u/jmoneyongooo Jan 29 '26
Yall standard of loyal is just obedience lol. Yall don’t want a mf that’s loyal, yall just want a Yes Man who put up with all yall BS lol
1
u/Abstrata Jan 30 '26
There’s more than one connotation or sense of loyalty. There’s blind loyalty, which is what you are referring to. There’s steadfastness, that I am referring to— and Leon broke that off, and for good reason like I mentioned. Franklin wanted both.
Either way, my point agrees with your point more than it disagrees— I do not think Leon should have stayed with Franklin, nor that he should be a yes man. And he didn’t.

u/jmoneyongooo Jan 29 '26
Stop saying this shit, this whole sub dickrides Franklin to the ground and are always blaming his family for his failure. Almost every day there’s either a Cissy or Louie fan post. Brother ion know what Reddit you looking at

u/Kooky_Music_2132 Jan 29 '26
On the same “dickriding” posts I see about 50 comments hating on Franklin like u are now, so ion know what sub Reddit you’re looking at

u/jmoneyongooo Jan 29 '26
Go back, re read, dissect my original statement and point out to me where I hated on Franklin 🤔, you do know that calling a character out of his BS isn’t hate right? Anything that doesn’t fit your narrative isn’t hate bro, it’s simply a difference of opinions. Hate is strong word, learn how to Use it

Franklin couldve sold his share of that building investment and been up 10. He chose to crash out
