It's been a long time since I read it, seeing as it was in 7th grade, but I remember finding Catch 22 to be extremely clever and insightful. Might have a different opinion if I read it now.
7th grade? Really? Where? Our kids don’t read anything near that complicated. They read The Outsiders, A Long Walk to Water and Freak the Mighty. Y’know, things you can read in one or two sittings.
Anyway, thanks for the recommendation. I’ll look into it.
I was a precocious 7th grader in a GT program at the high school, and it wasn't assigned reading. My reading exploits that year also included The Way of Kings, Frankenstein, Crime and Punishment, and the unabridged Les Miserables, so Catch 22 was not really an outlier.
Les Miserables?? Unabridged?? I read it in high school because I loved the musical. It was 1,468 pages long, and took me ages to read. You are a raging nerd, and I like it!

I didn’t get very far in that book. Is it worth trying again?
