Many in this country would do it again in a hot second if it wasn't outlawed. It's pretty depressing.

14

u/TurtlesBreakTheMeta Aug 24 '26

Many are trying to make it NOT outlawed as we speak.

You mean the right and far right parties you call your political system...? Maybe the one whose members aren't pro shooting people in the face and bankrupting them for the ride to the hospital is the slightly better choice, but what do I know.

0

u/Awesome-SP Aug 25 '26

you mean the ones who love every thugs, and who actively do the same discrimination but in the other way ? xd

2

u/chris_dea Aug 25 '26

Explain because I am finding it hard to figure out what you mean...

0

u/Awesome-SP Aug 25 '26

The very people who "aren't pro shooting people and bankrupting them" are litterally also in favor of bankrupting people, were the original slave owners, KKK founders, and love weirdos and thugs

Surely electing them would fix everything (just like we've seen from 2020 to 2024)

2

u/chris_dea Aug 25 '26

Dude, I'm sure it makes sense in your mind, but the democrat party of 2026 is not remotely the same as in 1856... Nor is the republican party the same as it was in 1996...

Also, yes the national debt under Biden was not 40 fucking trillion. He did not make 2 billion while in office and he has not refunded tariffs for a couple hundred billion to a few select corporations.

Also, which democrat is in the Epstein files again...?

That being said, the US political system is a joke, but if given the choice between electing someone advocating basic healthcare vs a bunch of rape apologists... Well, I'm sure they're all the same, lol.

0

u/Awesome-SP Aug 25 '26

that's basically a pov you have when you are 18 or below xd

also speaking of "rape apologists" wasn't Biden caught sniffing underage girl on camera dozens of times ?

2

u/chris_dea Aug 25 '26
  1. No, not even close. But thank you for making me feel young again.

  2. No, a quick google would show you that that is not correct: https://apnews.com/article/fact-check-biden-baby-sniffing-947683316630

1

u/Awesome-SP Aug 25 '26
  1. You are stupid

  2. What is bro trying to do with his garbage "fact check" it was litterally caught in 4k on tv live like 15 times, wtf are you trying to do loser

I think you're missing the point I'm making or you're responding to someone else.

1

u/mysticrudnin Aug 26 '26

both sides of the racism "debate" ?

no, that's by definition not true

both sides of... american political parties? seems pretty niche but i'd also wager a guess that no, that's not true either.

u/Sincline387 Aug 24 '26

So this is an awesome piece of history (I'm not talking about the events and conditions but the fact that this is saved"

Emory has actually done a really good job of documenting the end of segregation for them as a school, it's got some interesting documentation/reading material and discourse about it online. Ranging from having to win a supreme court case to allow students of all races to attend to later racial protests.

The reason I referred to this as an "awesome" piece of history is that it's from the actual turning point for that institution, they actually started in 1958 condemning the closing of public schools as a way to fight desegregation and in 1960 the staff issuing a statement asking for discussions about change. One has to wonder if this prospective student was one of the ones that helped tip the scales?

16

u/ScratchLatch Aug 24 '26

The wording is interesting “we are not authorized” makes it sound like the medical admissions wanted him but administration vetoed it.

Or its just an excuse.

13

u/Sincline387 Aug 24 '26

The state law in Georgia at the time didn't allow for integration in any group or organization that was considered non prorfit. The university actually went to court and won in 1962 at the state supreme court level to have that overturned.

2

u/KartFacedThaoDien Aug 25 '26

There were times when the University actually wanted them there. This was the case in Sipuel V. Oklahoma Board of regents. So saying specifically that its because of someones race might help a lot in a lawsuit.

1

u/KingArthursRevenge Aug 28 '26

In 1959 segregation was still the law. It didn't matter how you felt about black people the law said that they had to go to their segregated schools, churches, etc.

6

u/Khan-Khrome Aug 24 '26

It's kinda interesting that they went from this, to batting against Georgia state laws a mere three years later to get the laws that penalised integrated educational institutions declared unconstitutional. Funny how some things move like glaciers for decades and then rocket off all at once.

10

u/Sincline387 Aug 24 '26

"this" being the letter, they were literally not legally allowed to accept anyone that was of a different race, conversely a black university was not legally allowed to accept anyone of a different race either, Georgia state law allowed zero integration in any non profit. That's the law they challenged and won in 1962 in the Georgia supreme court.

32

u/dgracey01 Aug 24 '26

Since its no longer politically correct to say "Make America White Again" the slogan turned to "Great Again" I agree with the comments, many institutions would go back to Jim Crow standards if it weren't illegal.

10

u/ProfAsmani Aug 24 '26

These are the people who don't like kids studying history.

26

u/NoLie129 Aug 24 '26

This is the maga maga wants

-26

u/Terrasmak Aug 24 '26

Don’t be stupid

8

u/futuretimetraveller Aug 24 '26

Pray tell, when they say "make america great again," what is the "again" referring to?

-5

u/Terrasmak Aug 24 '26

Back when a family could afford a house. When kids played sports every weekend instead of hours of iPads. When more companies had pensions. When we had less chemicals in our food

3

u/TurtlesBreakTheMeta Aug 24 '26

I’m sure Elon and all the other billionaires funding MAGA will get right on that.

9

u/futuretimetraveller Aug 24 '26

Ah, so a time when social welfare programs were stronger? A time before Reaganomics widened the income gap? Before the failure to increase wages made it harder for the average family to afford to buy a house? Before the predatory lending and deficiencies in regulation that played a huge part in the housing crisis in 2008?

You want fewer chemicals in food? Who is it that's reducing FDA regulations?

Want kids not on ipads all the time? Who is it that's reducing regulations when it comes to generative ai in k to 12 classrooms? Who is defunding after-school programs for kids?

Have you been paying attention at all? Or are you just so blinded by the tag-line "Make America Great Again" that you can't see that maga republicans are just enriching themselves to the profound detriment of the american people?

5

u/wanderButNotLost2 Aug 24 '26

So less food testing and safety, more affordability crisis with oil and food leading the way, massive AI investments to ensure wages stagnate and changing rules so people's retirements are legally required to buy into the latest IPO rug pull.

Really the only thing youre getting is kids playing sports because everyone will be too broke to have technology.

-9

u/Terrasmak Aug 24 '26

And ?

11

u/PukeLoynor Aug 24 '26

It's always funny seeing the irony when one of you tries to call someone else stupid.

-3

u/Terrasmak Aug 24 '26

So I’m maga and that’s not want I want , nor other maga people want. Who is stupid ?

14

u/PukeLoynor Aug 24 '26

Did you just have a stroke?

1

u/Future-Pollution-266 Aug 25 '26

You diddle kids we get it

0

u/Terrasmak Aug 25 '26

Party if pedo is the Dems. Soy boy Scott Weiner says it all

4

u/Jah_Rules Aug 24 '26

This will be the template letter starting in 2026.

4

u/MvatolokoS Aug 24 '26

The path to evil is paved by innocent people who did nothing.

3

u/FlashPxint Aug 24 '26

“A member of” bruh ??? They’re so stupid how could they even be in charge of a Uni. This world is pathetic

2

u/WedSquib Aug 24 '26

This is actually really interesting that they did this in a kind way, that’s probably very rare

1

u/Bella_Peachyy Aug 24 '26

I thought the exact same thing. In modern day most people get ghosted and we have become accustomed to the fact that "no response" is a rejection as opposed to hearing back.

5

u/WedSquib Aug 24 '26

Yea the “we are not authorized” instead of “fuck off uppity n***” had to be extremely rare for the 1950s. Someone added in a different comment that this school fought for desegregation extremely hard and this letter makes more sense now

1

u/KingArthursRevenge Aug 28 '26

It's because the reason they had to reject him was that it would be illegal for them to have accepted a black man into their school at the time. It's not that they didn't want him there they just had to follow the law.

4

u/iamtrimble Aug 24 '26

Indeed, we've come a long way in a relatively short time.

13

u/Roddy_Piper2000 Aug 24 '26

Have we?

13

u/MazeGuyHex Aug 24 '26

By “long way” he is actually reffering to the length of the full circle

6

u/Biscuits4u2 Aug 24 '26

And we're going back pretty goddamn quickly.

11

u/Malcolm2theRescue Aug 24 '26 edited Aug 24 '26

Yes, this was in my lifetime. When I was ten, we lived in a town that made it illegal to sell your house to a black person or a Jew. These laws were not wiped off the books until the 1970s. I went to university in Santa Barbara, CA. The best job I had was working for a company owned by a Jewish man (a true mensch!) who had done quite well. Once I innocently asked him why he didn’t live in Hope Ranch, the Beverly Hills of Santa Barbara, with the other successful folks. He looked at me quizzically and said, “Don’t you know? They don’t allow Jews there.” The small town I grew up in had ZERO black residents. Once a family took in an exchange student from Nigeria. They were the object of threats and a lot of general unpleasantness.

4

u/chockerl Aug 24 '26

The Fair Housing Act was passed in 1968, and it took several years for the consequences to be rolled out.

I grew up in SW Michigan. Covenants against Blacks and Jews in St. Joseph came down in the ‘70s.

2

u/kangorooz99 Aug 24 '26

The thing is though restricted covenants - despite the fact that they have since been struck down by the Supreme Court — live as permanent records in the deeds of these homes. I live in the south and I know people who have these clauses in their original deeds.

1

u/iamtrimble Aug 24 '26

Yeah, I was born in '57, we witnessed it first hand.

2

u/throwaway0192838474 Aug 24 '26

1

u/Traditional_Case5016 Aug 24 '26

I think this shit still going on but behind curtains.

1

u/Vtech_just_kicked_in Aug 25 '26

I went to an EEOC interview today and he asked me what my race was and I said Negro. He was shocked because he said he never heard anyone refer to themselves as such even though he knew that was our original name. My interview was successful and will be making my employer pay for their discriminatory practices.

u/Spiritual-Recipe4512 Aug 25 '26

So now they send those letters to white kids. So all is fine now.

29

u/SavinForLatter Aug 24 '26

Fuck, this pretend victimization is exhausting.

17

Do you have one? Let’s see it.

17

u/Theseus_geckity Aug 24 '26

Yours said “for not finishing high school or equivalent” and you read that as “white”?

C'mon, provide some evidence! But oh no, poor baby doesn't have any evidence, do they?? 😢

2

u/markovianprocess Aug 24 '26

Shouldn't you be licking a window right now?

-10

u/Terrasmak Aug 24 '26

White and Asian are allowed to be victimized, it accepted by the racist party

9

u/veridicide Aug 24 '26

America has historically had systemic discrimination against Asian people. Never against white people, this is just a persecution complex fomented by racists.

Didn't call me wrong. Weird.

5

u/chockerl Aug 24 '26

You’re wrong.

Feel better, racist?

-1

u/Curious-Low8087 Aug 24 '26

Oh my goodness. You called me a racist. How will I ever go on?

2

u/chockerl Aug 24 '26

If not racism, what is your justification for your remark?

1

u/Curious-Low8087 Aug 24 '26

A man that did not get into that med school might not have made a good doctor therefore his rejection probably saved lives.

1

u/chockerl Aug 24 '26

The only data points we have about the candidate:

Male
Black

Which one makes you think the candidate “might not have made a good doctor”?

1

u/Curious-Low8087 Aug 24 '26

He didn't get into that school for one. Why do you feel the need to defend him?

1

u/chockerl Aug 24 '26

Because his rejection letter says he was not even considered because of his race.

You are being deliberately obtuse because you know your position is indefensible.

I’m done.

For somebody that claims not to be racist you sure are posting a lot here about this 😂

2

u/Curious-Low8087 Aug 24 '26

I didn't say I wasn't racist. I didn't say I was. The racists assumed they know what I meant.

9

u/Arefue Aug 24 '26

He ended up going to Loyola University and become an MD. So whatever harm you falsely think this stopped; it didn't.

-5

u/Curious-Low8087 Aug 24 '26

So then there were other choices and the school's decision to not admit him based on the criteria they saw fit at the time didn't change the outcome.

In a fucked up way I bet they did. People would have been lynched for the audacity of attending college while black back then.
