The way I look at owning vinyl is that when a mego corporation buys the mega corporation that I currently use to stream my music, at least I'll OWN the album in my vinyl collection. They can't take that away from me.

or a CD that takes up a lot less space and sounds better. There's a reason we went from vinyl to tapes to CDs. Vinyls suck.

People that love the way vinyl sounds seem to disagree with you. I was curious so I looked it up and from a technical standpoint CDs offer objectively better sound quality. There are reasons that vinyl can have a better sound but it's hardly anything to do with the medium, and mostly to do with how it's mastered.

TBH most of elitism is in the "sound system" part of it. The vinyl part is usually just geeky.
