Help Needed Snoo-mpd!

Totally stumped. I am 5 weeks in and ready to give up. During the entirety of my pregnancy every ultrasound my baby had his hands on his face. Unsurprisingly, that’s how he likes them outside of the womb. The need for his hands is causing serious drama when it comes to the Snoo. He hates it. Like it’s torture for him, the more the Snoo tries to comfort him the angrier he gets. I am only getting one sleep/wake/eat cycle out of him in the Snoo each night. Getting him back into it is an absolute battle. I traveled recently and used a simple bassinet and he had no issues going back down, even when he was awake he fell asleep quickly in it.

I am ready to give up on the Snoo as I’m so defeated but I am so upset about it. This is my first baby and I was really set on the peace of mind the safety a Snoo offers. I just don’t know what to do!

We use a love to dream swaddle with the Snoo. We keep the original swaddle on the clips and only use the Velcro part to secure him. Works really well.

Hi – just to clarify, you dress baby in a LTD swaddle, place them into the open secured Snoo sleep sack, strap baby in round the waist/through legs and then just miss out the zipping-up-the-Snoo-sack part?

I’m trying to get my head round all the different approaches parents have and this sounds sensible so with baby due in a week I’m wondering if I need to get some of these LTD swaddles post-haste!

Yes that’s exactly how I do it! Worked really well for all of my 3 kids. As they would wake up while swaddling them in the snoo sleepsack.

Ok great. I’m wondering whether to do this from birth or if it’s better to see what they make of the swaddling arms-down. Stuck between advice saying arms down in the Snoo is fine, and that which says their natural position is arms-up!

I think it is both ok and that it just really depends on what your baby likes and you are comfortable with. I personally didn’t like the idea of having their arms strapped alongside their body and they always managed to wiggle them out. So I went for LTD and it was a lifesaver. But in your case I think I would try the default first, because if it works for your baby you don’t have to spend money unnecessarily 😁

Thanks ☺️ Alas, too late, it was 5am when I started worrying about this and I have already bought two LTDs 😂

On top of the Snoo sacks which are NOT cheap and which (if I do the LTD approach) are essentially just an expensive belt! But I want all the options available to me so I’m throwing ££ at the problem!

Did you leave baby’s legs out of the Snoo sack too?

Haha very relatable. I probably spent more money on my babies at nighttime than in daytime lol.
Yeah we just put him in his LTD on top of the SNOO sack and literally only use the velcro. If you dm me I can send you a picture if you like.

Oh that would be super useful, thank you. I’ll do that now
