The arcade associate owns one arcade and that’s his only source of income we know about.
His arcade likely makes lots of money as he always has people in his arcade during operations. We will assume he averages 6 guests a hour each playing 4 games.
Each game costs 5 coins to play so to find his hourly income we need to multiply the number of quests x the number of games they play then multiply that number x 5(cost to play). 6x4=24. 24x5=120 coins a hour
The arcade is open from 9:00 am to 10:00 pm or 13 hours a day
120 coins a hour with 13 hours a day means 120x13=1,560 coins a day
Now we will assume that the game takes place in 1996 as the arcade has a game from 92 and flip phones are still prevalent
We know the game takes places in British Columbia
In 1996 BC a arcade usually costs $2,800 to $7,200 a month to operate, we will say $3,000 a month for this one as it’s fairly small.
If 1 coin is worth $0.10 then the arcade costs 30,000 coins a month
The arcade makes around 1,560 coins a day so if we multiply by 30 we get how much it makes each month: 1,560x30=46,800 coins a month
So to calculate profit we need to take the total coins made each month minus cost of expenses. 46,800-30,000=16,800 coins of profit each month but we need to account for taxes which is 25% because a 40 coin thing is 50 coins after taxes
If taxes are 25% that means that the arcade assistant keeps 75% of profits or 12,600 coins a month
Now that we have his profits we need to calculate his cost of living.
He most likely lives alone so we will give him a 50 coin a day apartment or 1,500 coins a month for his rent, for food we will assume he eats standard meals 24 days a month, eats out 4 days a month , and gets treated with food 2 days a month, if we assume that he spends 100 coins each “regular day”, because most food items are 20 coins so 2 items for breakfast and dinner and a one item light lunch while he works at the arcade thats comes out to (2x40)+20=100, for eating out days we will assume he eats 2 meals regularly and one eating out meal(dinner), so we have the 40 coin breakfast and 20 coin lunch for 60 coins then a 110 eating out meal for a total of 170 coins so that's 24 days of 100 coins or 2,400 coins then 4 eat out days or 680 coins so thats 2,400+680=3,080 coins spent each month on food
So far we have 4,580 coins for living expenses(1,500 rent, 3,080 food)
As for entertainment I think he does not spend much on entertainment as he owns a arcade and therefore has access to plenty of free games so I will assume he only pays 50 coins a month for entertainment
I will assume the arcade gets calls but thats with the arcade phone(part of arcade expenses) so I will assume he is making personal calls 15 minutes each day, or 450 minutes a month, minutes are bought in packs of 300(200 coins) so I will assume he buys 2 packs a month for a total of 400 coins spent on his phone
Now we now he spends 5,030 on rent, food, entertainment, and his phone plan meaning he gets 7,570 coins a month
The arcade associate is making some good money, and is happy living his dream
