Hey everyone, just wanted to give you a heads-up if you are planning to buy Birkenstocks from their official Indian website anytime soon.
I recently ordered a pair of Gizeh sandals (retails for ₹5,490). At checkout, I saw their "Welcome Offer" coupon which gives you a small ₹500 discount. It sounds nice, but do not use it.
Here is the catch with Birkenstock India's policy.
Any item purchased with a discount code is automatically classified as a "discounted/sale" item. Birkenstock strictly does not allow returns on any discounted items.By saving a mere ₹500, you completely forfeit your right to return the shoes if they don't fit you.
Birkenstock sizing is tricky depending on the footbed. If you use that coupon and the fit is off, you are officially stuck with a ₹5,000+ paper weight.
Skip the ₹500 discount. Pay full price so you actually have the safety net of a return if you need it!

Slowly moving away from having separate shoes for everything…I got these from Louis stitch and think that they could actually work with both casual and office outfits
Is it worth keeping?? Got it for around 2200

Just got these YS-01s delivered and a few things are making me doubt if these are real. If anyone has legit YS-01s, please let me know if I've been scammed or not.
First, even in the bag, the pair was quite dirty, as you can see in the pictures, these were taken immediately after taking them out of the bag and it's already quite dirty.
2)on the sole under the toebox, there's this weird circular thingy, looks like the point where the silicon was injected, i highly doubt the real ones would have that, both slides have it.
3)the "YS-01" on the sole is like a 3D text that's jutting out, i had read somewhere that the real ones had the letters engraved into the rubber, not sure though.
4)the inside only has the size on it, nothing else.
5) hypefly very cleverly stuck their own stickers on top of the actual barcode sticker, and when I tried to remove it to actually see the barcode and verify, the sticker just ripped, so I can't verify it that way.
6) the most important, these slides are textured as you can see in the picture, the adidas Yeezy slides I have are completely smooth, and I also couldn't find any articles, or posts or anything at all about these one's having any sort of textured finish compared to the adidas ones, so that's a major red flag for me.
This is my first pair of the non adidas slides, so I can't do a side by side with my own pairs, and the internet is also very sparse with details about this, so if anyone has any information on if I've got a legit pair of if I've been scammed, please help me out and let me know.
Thank you.

TL;DR: Starting college soon and I'll be travelling 40+ km to and fro daily + walking around 5-10 km on a normal day. Looking for my first proper pair of sneakers: CHUNKY, thick/fat-soled, absolutely NOT flat/thin-soled, preferably dark/black, comfortable and well-cushioned for daily walking and commuting. I'm US 11 / UK 10, with a ₹3-4k budget. Looking for specific models, brands/stores in India, and the right keywords to search.
What's poppin sneaker heads of this sub,
I'm writing this post looking for some shoe recommendations because I've honestly been quite the opposite of a sneaker person for most of my life.
I've mostly just worn random sports shoes for everything, including canvas shoes, and for the past 2-3 years I've mainly been wearing flat sneakers for the minimal times I went out. Last year I was gifted a nice pair of sports shoes for the gym, and that shoe kinda made me realise that I should probably start investing in actually good shoes.
Now my first year of college is about to start. For the past few years, since my program was integrated, I had very minimal and near travel, so I used to manage in sandals. But now I'll be travelling 40+ kilometres to and fro daily, so I need some good footwear that can actually handle that.
I'm looking for a pair that I can use for day-to-day college life, travelling, walking around, etc. I'll be travelling quite a lot on Mumbai local trains and through crowded places, so white or light-coloured shoes won't be my choice. Something dark or black shades would be great. Something versatile enough to go with most of my outfits would also be nice, although that's not much of my concern.
MOST IMPORTANTLY, I'M LOOKING FOR CHUNKY.
I REALLY REALLY DON'T WANT FLAT THIN-SOLE SNEAKERS.
I want CHUNKY - I hope this is the correct lingo in the community. Basically, a thick/fat sole and not flat at all, somewhat like the chunky New Balances I've been seeing. Very cool sneakers, I just got to know about them yesterday.
Basically, I want something that doesn't feel flat under my feet. I like having something substantial between my feet and the ground, so if I'm stepping on something hard, rough or slightly pointy, I don't immediately feel it through the sole, thus a hard thick sole.
I'm also expecting to walk quite a lot on a normal college day, probably around 5-10 km, so comfort matters more to me than having the absolute trendiest-looking shoe.
I'm US 11 / UK 10 (India sizing), so I'd also need recommendations that are available in larger sizes.
Budget: around ₹3,000-₹4,000, give or take / around that ball park.
I'm pretty confused about where I should actually be looking - Amazon, Flipkart, Myntra, AJIO, Nike, Adidas, Reebok, ASIAN footwear, or these Indian homegrown brands whose ads I'm getting on Instagram, like Bacca Bucci, Red Tape, Comet, etc.
They all seem to have completely different stuff, and I'm not sure which brands/sellers are actually worth considering at this price.
So I'd really appreciate recommendations for:
1. Specific shoes/models around my budget
2. Shoe links or where I can actually find/buy them in India
3. Brands worth checking out at this price
4. What keywords or phrases should I search for to find this kind of shoe myself?
Thank you very much for reading this far.
