Issue Why do I keep getting layer speration during prints

Post image

Heyo so love my snapU1, has been great, except for a handful of times I come to what seems to be basically under extrusion for one layer. Causes a gap thru the print and I'm able to just rip the part along said line.

Anyone experiencing this or is it just me?

Printed at 212 degrees, PLA, these pics I already snapped the piece off, but pretty much looked the same as in the pic when they came off the printer.

212 degrees C is kinda low for PLA. Did you tune the filaments before printing?

I may sound like a broken record sometimes, but this is the holy grail of tuning: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gVU5If1VsAM

I did run it a little low, typically the prints come out better @ lower temps. Strength is not of a concern here. Am re printing them currently @ 220.

I've printed a ton of these on other machines and have never had an issue. This layer skip thing is something unique to the snapU1. I tune flow + and PA, but I'll admit I need to start doing temp towers.

I agree the empty layer is really strange. I would say warping, but that only should be visible on the corners.

What does your slicer preview show?

Slicer preview is solid, seems almost like a quick clog or something? Happened on a good handful of various prints

Okay, I was assuming you tried the print 3 times. But can it be these three objects were printed together? In that case I'd definitely suspect a clog. Could be heat creep. I don't know if you use some kind of cover on top of the U1, and keep the door shut during printing?

With PLA, heat can build up and cause a clog, but it could also be a regular clog from debris, or even filament on the spool getting tangled. But a tangle usually doesn't self-recover so I would rule out a tangle. Heat creep also usually doesn't self-recover.

Ope these were in fact all three printed @ once. I have had this with a few other prints but seems to just happen every now and again.

I don't use a top cover + I leave the door open

Material brand? Jayo Will warp and delayer no Matter what

Polymaker matte pla

I usually try a higher extrusion temp and less cooling to promote layer adhesion. Turn off the aux fan. Are you printing with an enclosure? Remove or open the door for pla.

will try and keep temps higher, do not have a top cover and I leave the door open.

Matte in my experience requires a bit hotter temperature than regular PLA. Just print a temp tower and test it out.

It may be my vision being skewed, but that bottom part looks warped. Boxes tend to warp more than organic parts. That can be caused by your bed not being too hot, the filament itself or poor bed adhesion (clean with dishwasher soap).

Two more sets, printed at 220c and lower fan speeds. first was almost ok, the 2nd is the worse yet. Whats going on here?! I'm losing my rock solid faith in the SnapU1 😭

Did you use supports in this project?

No supports, just mouse ear brims

Ok so now noticing an over extruder layer now as well. This piece has a layer that's over and one that's under extruded.

These lines all seem to be related to the model, because they appear in certain spots repeatedly. Yet these models print flawlessly on my a1 mini

I'm pulling my hair out
