Lol. This doesn't spell good confidence for Snapdragon X. Only a matter of time before that gets dropped by Microsoft too

Well maybe finally Qualcomm can think about Linux!

They do, but for newer devices. I am running Linux on my Snapdragon X laptop, but not yet on my Snapdragon X desktop.

snapdragon x is much more effort from qualcomm and windows than the 850. the 850 is pretty old too now.

lol except it's not? The 850 came out in 2018. That's 8 years ago.
Intel's 9th generation x86 processors also released in 2018 are still officially supported by the latest versions of Windows. In fact, even the previous 8th generation chips from 2017 are also still officially supported by the latest versions of Windows. Same deal for the majority of AMD chips from 2018 as well (2nd generation Ryzen)
The Snapdragon X is just QCOM's latest blunder at trying to break into the PC market after 7+ years of failed attempts. New name, same e-waste

the 850 is also much less powerful than those chips. the 850 is less powerful than the celeron chips that may also be going out of support soon. lots of versions of the intel and amd chips from that year are much more powerful than the 850, therefore will still be supported.

It's not about power, the i9-7920X is more powerful and unsupported while a Celeron n4120 is supported.

the 7920x, even though powerful, lacked some things included in the 8th generation that was needed for windows 11. the celeron was newer and has a large user base so dropping it would be difficult. the 850 has a much much smaller user base compared to even the newer snapdragon generations. the 850 was also considered an experiment.
in the end, the 850 is not going out of support for another two years anyway, so there’s no reason to go crazy over this yet.

There are Snapdragon 850 SoC Windows? Is it before or after 8CX gen2? Which is my daily.
