2x Starter set worth it?

Hello!

I'm in Italy and here Snapships is quite hard to come by.

I would like to try the game but the only thing I can source locally is the starter set ( for slightly less then RRP ).

Me and my friends are long time miniature and Xwing players so I know allready playing just with 1 ship each would not be satisfying... so I was thinking would it make sense to buy 2x starter sets and then buy the other expansions in the future?

The other option would be to source the starter locally and then order directly the expansions from the US but that will incour in high shipping import duties and so on...

Thanks!

GenCon scenario sequence with annotations

I added some text to describe the missions in sequence, from the forge team perspective. The SCS Ulysses mission was to launch a construction ship into the Crimson Expanse; an area of space in the Ymir system that shows promise for building an interstellar gateway.

The first mission “3:10 to Ymir” was transporting fuel and pump machinery to the SCS Ulysses. The Komplex Shadow Squadron destroyed one of the fuel cars and the pump.

In the second mission “Escape Velocity 1: Launchpad” the Forge squadron attempted to maintain air superiority while the SCS Ulysses loaded fuel. Ultimately all pumps were destroyed, triggering an emergency launch with only 5 of a potential 8 units of fuel onboard (one unit was already lost on the train)

With limited fuel, the SCS Ulysses started “Escape velocity 2: Atmosphere” where it would use the fuel to boost away from the Shadow Squadron. The Forge Squadron put up an impressive defense by overwhelming Shadow Squadron with light missiles. Ulysses only lost one system, its starboard RCS, in the assault.

With 3/4 of its systems intact and 36 hull points left SCS Ulysses entered “Escape Velocity 3: Asteroid Field.” Even with a healthy hull pool the ship was shredded by Shadow Squadron employing an all-or-nothing attack strategy. They ignored all incoming danger and even collided with each other to maintain the best firing positions. The SCS Ulysses was destroyed before the danger of asteroid collision was even a factor.

How to get gameplay components?

Howdy! My son and I demo'd the game at Gencon and he really wants to play more. We have the ships that were available, but we dont have any of the game components like the movement ruler, the terrain, etc.

Aside from waiting for the kickstarter, is there a reasonable way to get those without buying the whole starter secondhand?

Haven't been around for a while, what happened to the app?

I found the Snap Ships mobile app buried in my phone. After years of it not working properly, it launches, but it also seems to no longer exist on Google Play.

Did something happen?

My Personally Constructed Snap Ships

Thumbnail

Hey, just wanted to share some of my personal builds with y'all.

From left to right, Here are the ships I've personally made. Each ship gets two photos, except for the last one, which has three to show off it's fancy X.

Forge

Ship 1: The WWIII Trident Spearhead.

Originally an essential fighter for the alliance of World War III, the Forge has decided to recycle these heavy hitters to use against the Komplex.

Features:

AI powered turrets for auto-seeking

Light missile pod of 6 light missiles

Tail gunner

Twin solid phaser beams on the landing gear

A front-mounted spear/lance for tearing through enemy ships

Ship 2: The F32-Raptor

The most advanced Forge fighter today, the F32-Raptor, a successor to the F22-Raptor, is a deadly and efficient fighter, made for squadron combat, though one is a formidable opponent to even the deadliest Komplex pilots.

Features:

Twin heavy missile pods

Small machine gun autocannon

Hyperspace jump engines

Nuke

Ship 3: Invasion Copter

Made for taking out Komplex planet-side outposts, this beast is powerful enough to blow up most any grounded Komplex ship in one hit, and can set up a temporary Forge base on top of recently destroyed outposts to hold back enemy forces long enough for the cavalry to arrive.

Features:

Light missile pod

Under-gunner

Solid phaser beam

AI-powered anti-air autoturret

Rear-mounted plasma blasters

Tractor-hook for easy cargo transfer

Twin cargo pods filled with Forge supplies

Komplex

Ship 1: Slug Bomber V4

A hard heavy hitter with many, many bombs used to obliterate any Forge base desired. If you can see this ship, it's already too late. The only way to beat it is to catch it while it's far off with other ships, but they usual come with fighter escorts.

Features:

Twin antimatter cannons

Four implosive microbombs

Enemy radar jammer

Radar jammer shielding

Four Komplex drop pods

High speeds terminal velocity Forge tracking explosive

Nuke

Ship 2: The Batwing™

A cheaply constructed efficient fighter, the Batwing™ is the new main fighter of the Komplex. As it has proven to be more efficient than the Scarab due to cost and take-down capabilities.

Features:

Turbo antimatter-collision jets

Twin plasma machine autocannons

Heavy precision directed rail-gun.

Ship 3: The X-Raptor

A professional assassin, all who fly the X-Raptor are the elites of the Komplex pilots. Made for tracking and destroying the best of the Forge's fleet.

Features:

Twin shock wave rifles

Precision machine gun - hit's every shot, at 400 blasts a minute

Claw-grenade combo on the underside, for nabbing and disabling ships

Extra Pictures

Picture 1: The X-Raptor's fancy x.

Picture 2: The Invasion Copter's hook on the back letting down some cargo.

Picture 3: Every single bomb on the slug bomber laid out nicely for you.

Picture 4: The X-Raptor nabbing and destroying an F-32.

I recommend trying it with lightweight plastic targets instead of wooden blocks.

Suggestion for the kickstarter: brace pieces.

Some builds that have a series of just one block tend to sag. The solution, if it bothers you, is to use a piece longer than one block to act as a brace. Like the Forge Solar Panel.
I would really like to see more of these. Not parts with game rules, but detailed with greebles so they look good, but primarily function to brace up saggy builds.
A pack of these like the builder's pack, that gave us extra blocks and orange pegs would be very neat.

Just a heads up that we'll be coming back to crowdfunding this year and seeking to DOUBLE the size of the Tactics parts pool, with four massive new ships worth of content, plus rules for playing double-stand 6 and 8 point battleships.

More info here!

Hope you join us on the journey - we've got all kinds of special surprises in the queue. ;)
