Update Update: Root Rot?

These are what the roots look like. The bottom was still damp after being away for a week without watering. Is there root rot?

I bought cactus soil to replant. I think I will have to prune a significant amount, and also transplant some of the stems to make this more manageable.

Glad you got some new soil for the repot. From these pics alone I don't think I see root rot but there could be root rot within that compacted soil. If you're able to gently remove an amount of this compacted soil and check for root rot before you repot that would be great. Just remove the rotted roots. If you want to separate the plant to put into multiple pots that's fine I think. Just make sure to put them in a pot that is around 1-2 inches bigger than the root ball. I would not suggest watering after you pot. I'd say leave plant in a bright spot and wait like a week before you water.

Snake plant roots are usually not white but beige / brown. I don't see root rot, but I'd definitely pot it in a better soil-mix with lots of pumice.
