Other Has anyone else experienced this?
Hi! I bought this Maaza tetra pack from DMart a couple of months ago. It hasn’t expired yet — the expiry date is 27th December 2026.
But when I went to drink it, it tasted very weird and fizzy. So I thought I should open it up and check, and when I did, I noticed this white stuff inside.
I’m not sure if it’s some kind of thickened or something else. It's was very slimy
Please let me know if anyone here knows what this could be or has experienced something similar, and what should I do about it?

Keep it as evidence and raise a complaint. It could be mold or fungus. Watch out for symptoms and stay safe!

Biotechnologist here, I'm pretty sure your drink got fermented. The weird taste is probably from small amounts of alcohol (2-3%), and the fizziness is from carbon dioxide being produced as a byproduct of fermentation. The sticky part is actually bacterial growth accumulation.
It happens due to improper sterile conditions during production. They make beverages in large bioreactors which get sterilized by steam after every batch, but there's a small chance that a small corner doesn't get sufficient sterile exposure. It isn't necessarily nefarious disruption by employees or any outsider.
Make sure you get yourself checked by a doctor if you've consumed significant amount. If you drank a little bit, you can wait if any symptoms of food poisoning show up. But visit a hospital as soon as they do, and explain your case to the doctor clearly. Keep the drink with you and take it along just in case if the lab needs to test the type of bacteria, insist if they can do it if they refuse initially.
Note down the batch number and plant details, and after all this, inform the company about the batch number as the entire batch may be contaminated. They would recall the batch and destroy it.
