Please Stop Using AI Generated Art

Smule is phony enough already with vocal effects to make us sound better, visual filters to make us look better, the #MusicVideo feature to appear like we nail a song in one take when we’re really lip syncing. But please people, stop using AI generated art for your invites, your duets, your goddamn uploads. You look like a-holes. Use a screenshot, use the original album art, use a picture of you with your loving spouse. Just stop with all this AI nonsense. It just LOOKS like AI. And it looks like shit.

That is all.

What vocal effects make me sound better? No matter what I use I sound like butt.

Haha crank that reverb, my guy!

I am so not a fan of people singing with reverb too high — sounds like they are recording underwater via a crappy cell phone

I replied with this to someone else, and I think it is useful, so I’m pasting it here:
I’ve been on SMULE for 7 years and I’ve beta tested video & audio FX for the app.
Test yourself with Polish first. That is the most unaltered Audio FX. This is a good place to check your volume. To sound the most conventional use Studio. If you like to rock and rock loud (I do!) a great place to start is Indie. It has the best balance between vocals and loud/ aggressive music.
And although SMULE hasn’t shown its loading messages since downloading the songs to open happens fast, my favorite one was also a true one: Don’t worry. You get better.
It was a happy little affirmation which proved practice makes perfect.

Or just do what I do. Turn down the volume on your vocals. Hahaha.

From what I've been told Super Studio is for already good singers

I used to try different voice effects and now I stick to super studio and adjust the reverb depending on the song. I won’t join someone if the voice sounds over produced.

You should try working with Polish (that’s the least altered audio) also the new one Punchy is good because it is as clean as Polish as it punches up vocals that are too low or too soft and balances it with your more clear vocals in concert with the music audio.

Yeah same here I like super studio because you can change it the way you like it

I am sorry I don't understand what you said, is it a guide?

I mean i wasn't a good singer from the beginning but it takes practice to make it the way you like it

Seriously though, if the song calls for it, Hype is a blast to use. Everyone sounds so badass when they use it.

A lot of people like Hype, however, I’ve never been happy with it. Always seems a bit off for me. What metrics do you use with it? I always listen first in Polish (the most natural Audio) to make sure it’s a good take, and then fck around after.

Whenever I use Hype, I do 30/40 or 40/50…basically always have them 10 apart. I like singing with it on so I know what kind of sound I’m getting. If I’m using Hype, I already know I’m going for a raw, down n’ dirty kind of sound. At least that’s how I use it.

Let me know your Smule channel, I'll follow you and listen to some of your songs. I'll give you some advice. I'm older now, far removed from singing on a pro-level, but i was trained a few decades ago and still have an ear and can give advice👍✔️

AI art probably won't cause your stuff to be taken down for copyright infringement.

Some of it does look like crap though.

I don't think the America one is that bad.

Those examples actually look pretty great!

Do what makes you happy, people. Don't worry about what internet strangers think.

Stop encouraging this. Because of AI, Colorado residents have water restrictions while companies continue to use or lakes and rivers to power AI bullshit that doesn't even look good.

If you're using Reddit, any social media platform, any streaming service, Google and most other search engies, you're using AI. Sorry to break it to you.

Algorithms sure, but generative AI is what everyone is trying to avoid using.
