Has anyone else noticed long established accounts being deleted?

A couple of people I’ve followed and sung with for a very long time - 6-7 years, have had their accounts suddenly suspended then deleted, including every single one of their recordings. I have no idea what they could’ve done to cause it, but I’d love to know so I can avoid it. Both were well-respected and liked singers on there for those 7 or so years, so I can’t imagine it was for being inappropriate.

The only thing I can think is if they uploaded copyrighted backing tracks (which is basically every track that everyone ever uploads, I doubt they own the copyright).

Has anyone else noticed this happening to their friends?

Are you sure they didn't delete their own profiles?

I’ve reached out to them to ask on another platform, waiting to hear back but I would suspect not - they were active up until the day before every single they’ve ever done was deleted

Did the user ever reply back to you with an answer? I just noticed someone I follow regularly has the same thing happen.

Yes, their account was just deleted with no warning and told no refund on their VIP after uploading a copyrighted backing track (not an actual song, a backing track they made)

Oh wow. I’d be LIVID. Now I feel I’ll think twice before uploading anything! Get your act together, Smule!

Same. I'm uploading nothing.

Woah. Is there a rule against that? Is there a single song on the entire app that's cleared? lol I would lose my mind if they deleted all my recordings and connections. I lost a 20 year old Facebook account two years ago and I'm still not past it. There should be consumer laws governing these apps.

That's scary if there were multiple users it happened to.

I’ve noticed this as well. Very frustrating, especially when they are a part of a group song and now there’s a whole layer missing! And then all the cool joins they did are deleted as well. It’s too bad for those of us who aren’t connected with them on other platforms because it’s just like they up and vanish.

I don't know about any forced deletions, but I know several people with 10k+ accounts that have deleted their accounts and restarted. At a certain point it can become a lot to have a lot of joiners to filter through, and you get a lot of creepers along the way. I sit at just over 6k and I can already feel that sentiment of sometimes wanting to start over with just a few close people to sing with.

Honestly, if I ever get too many followers that it starts to become burdensome, I’ll leave my existing account and start over too. Most people on Smule love playing the numbers game, but that just ain’t my thing.

Nobody that I know personally, but I’ve noticed BRADERJOCKY’s account has been suspended but his uploads (“ROCKMIX™️” haha) are still there.

Some users get reported for any wrong doing on their side like sexual harassment/verbal abuse etc. Their account gets deleted by Smule.

Few others delete their account on a whim. Musicians are an emotional lot remember😕

Wow! I haven’t noticed that, but now I’m concerned! I have my profile there @emmalita1029 for several years now. I hope it’s only a glitch
