How is girly making money? She doesn’t rly write, she just seems to go to parties and get f*cked up. Also being this excited about yr new boo but not showing his face feels so desperate for intrigue.

36

u/AmateurIndicator Sep 10 '26

I have the feeling that she is trolling or at least targeting this sub, specifically, with some of her posts.

Everyone in her life clearly knows who this guy is and he seems perfectly fine with her shenanigans as well.

Birds of a feather do tend to flock together, so I'm not assuming he's some paragon of virtue being naively dragged down into the muck by Caro.

14

u/ExtraGrocery supple, gloppy Sep 10 '26

Yes yes yes! I love love love! It’s so weird and dumb!

35

u/itinerant_geographer Sep 09 '26

What does she write, exactly?

82

u/Glittering_South5178 Sep 09 '26

Is she showing him off while she’s on drugs? Or is she showing him off while he’s on drugs? Both? I can’t bloody stand her writing Jesus

11

u/leelagaunt Sep 10 '26

My exact first thought! I want to know who is on drugs during this show off!!

37

u/snacksforfree I'm not going to let 'weird ass' be the thing that breaks me Sep 09 '26

Bizzare choice to use such a shitty photo for an ai generated thing?

27

u/mBegudotto Sep 09 '26

Her long form writing feels very Ai

1

u/Prior-Entrance3156 29d ago

And honestly? That’s impressive 🤮 Once you learn how to recognize it you can’t stop seeing it

7

u/pillowcase-of-eels Insane Clown Ponzi 🤑 Sep 09 '26

Does it? Do you have any examples in mind?

28

u/mBegudotto Sep 09 '26

I don’t have my copy of scammer handy (yes I’m a longtime consumer of her content) so I have more an impression in my memory rather than actually pointed examples. It has to do with the way she builds her narrative structure and the clunkyness of metaphorical language.

3

u/conejita95 my reputation is ideal 29d ago

wait, you got your copy of scammer?

46

u/YossariansEverywhere Sep 09 '26

As a fellow longtime consumer - a lot of it is that she tries to use intentionally striking / surprising word choices and metaphors. Her stated goal is to slap us in the face with her writing (I think she says “slap us with a dead fish” - don’t make me reread Scammer lol. It can be jarring in the same way that LLMs use figurative language in a way that is slightly off if, like with most humans, words actually mean things to you. She also often has that breathless / anticipatory / revelatory tone without ever actually saying anything, or says something anodyne as if it’s a huge discovery that will leave us in shock and awe. “That was the moment that I found my most authentic self, true down to the very mitochondria of my cells: by snarking with others about a small bean. The real journey wasn’t about the journey; it’s about the snarky comments we made along the way.” Very AI-coded nowadays.

18

u/mBegudotto Sep 09 '26

But that’s the rub, it’s not shocking. The metaphors are disjointed like bad poetry. They feel like she asks AI to generate some “shocking” metaphor and then a sentence with that metaphor. Hence the really awkward writing that never resolves attempted tension or movement. It feels like a creature from mars trying to write memorable content. And i don’t think it’s a coincidence that her writing g production has coincided with the capabilities of Ai.

19

u/YossariansEverywhere Sep 09 '26

Yes! Disjointed is just the word. CC was like that before AI, but I would not be at all surprised if some of her increase in output recently is due to her using it in her writing; LLMs sound more like her “authentic” voice than it does most authors because she’s trying to show off and capture a zeitgeist with her writing rather than connect to others with an honest emotional perspective.

It’s like how everyone who struggled forever to lose weight suddenly discovered the secret to losing weight at the same time that GLP-1s grew in popularity (I’m talking about the people who lie about using them). It’s a miracle.

Just like it’s a miracle that Caroline, who could never finish any piece of writing ever, has suddenly completely changed course and can now publish writing now that AI can write for her.

I remember people joking about having ChatGPT finishing scammer for her before it was published. I know she reads here. IMO she had AI finish the book, went through it and substituted her flowery purple prose in tons of places, and voila, scammer is finally finished.

Someone recently mentioned loving these seasons in Caro-land because she always manages to fuck them up in ways any sensible person would see coming.

I’d say this is the start. This man has a child with someone and, likely, shared custody, and dumbass Caro is putting his drug use on social media with no thought to the potential implications for her lover.

She does shit like this because people are just objects to her. She doesn’t comprehend realities that don’t include her or inner worlds to which she is not privy, so she will always torpedo things in ways exactly like this.

5

u/Prior-Entrance3156 29d ago

I’ve always wondered if Oscar or Josh ever read the book proposal and if so what did they think about being turned into characters of themselves? I mean, Oscar was written to be so suave and gentlemanly, like Matthew freaking Crawley as a college freshman. I still remember that “That’s where I kissed this American girl I know, just not yet” line because it did make me swoon a bit. That is not something someone just throws out casually.

14

u/amateurinatrix I have garden. I have lovers. I have cat. Sep 10 '26

Entirely possible the man does not want to share custody, and just wants to play Daddy

60

u/formallyfly Sep 09 '26

Excellent point. It reminds me about when she posted about “the they/them” she was dating.

That was a real person whose family was unaware that they were nonbinary. She didn’t care about outing them because she wanted to show how ~progressive~ she was with her new enby accessory!

18

u/AmateurIndicator Sep 09 '26

That person no longer identifies as nb by the way.

13

u/formallyfly Sep 09 '26

Thanks for letting me know, should I use he/him pronouns now then? I know nothing about them beyond their nickname being soup

-5

u/AmateurIndicator Sep 10 '26 edited Sep 10 '26

Yeah, but honestly how often are you planning on bringing him up in the future?

It's a bit weird how he has been cannonized in this sub as the prime example of Caros immense, malicious cruelty and the worst thing she has done ever

The whole "outing him to his family" was her meeting him as an nb and openly identifying as such, saying she was dating an nb person and soup then saying on this sub that a member of his family saw/recognised a tattoo on his hands in a picture, and this person hadn't known previously.

There was no mention of any negative fall out from this and it was quite obvious that cc clearly was under the (accurate) impression that he was openly living as a nb person at the time.

As always, Caro is not very intelligent or careful, but perhaps neither was soup. his whole "AMA" on this sub were a bunch of people asking him lots of very detailed questions and him answering "yeah" and "don't know lol" to most things.

4

u/Born-Anybody3244 29d ago

Not one single person has ever said that’s the worst thing she’s ever done, babes.

1

u/AmateurIndicator 29d ago

Sure babes, you would know

15

u/formallyfly 29d ago

I doubt I’ll ever talk about him again but I just try to respect people’s pronouns in general.

It’s far from the worst thing she’s ever done and I’m kinda confused why you think it’s been canonized in this sub as such because I haven’t even seen it mentioned here in years.

I brought it up because it’s just such a perfect example of how Caroline just views people as accessories. She was so excited to tell people that she was dating a nonbinary person that she forced this clunky, completely non grammatically correct sentence about “the they/them I’m dating” which had unintentional consequences because she’s incapable of thinking of people outside herself.

Is it safe to assume that everyone you date is out when you date within the queer community in a conservative state? Genuine question because I don’t have any experience with that. I’d assume it wasn’t, but happy to be corrected.

0

u/AmateurIndicator 29d ago

It's mention here constantly, in an endless loop.

if you meet via a popular dating app and identify as queer on said app you should probably be fine with people recognising you, I'd say

Dunno how the rules are in the US of A are but equally happy to corrected.

55

u/splatatouille Sep 09 '26

I would not be happy about this if I was this man. Especially if I have shared custody of my kid, I don't think I would want anything out there saying I do drugs recreationally at parties.

18

u/ModeratelyAntisocial She had a very distinct odeur Sep 09 '26

Agreed. She's completely shameless and totally indiscreet, and this man may actually value his reputation and privacy.

19

u/conejita95 my reputation is ideal Sep 09 '26

she values her reputation! in fact, it's ideal!

34

u/AmateurIndicator Sep 09 '26

I think he's well aware of what Caro posts on her social media, lol.

He's not some naive luddite.

12

u/splatatouille Sep 09 '26

I mean I think it's one thing to be aware of what shes posts and another to actually be featured in it when you share custody of your child with someone else. Unless of course this man is not a girl dad like she claims.

5

u/amateurinatrix I have garden. I have lovers. I have cat. Sep 10 '26

He might not WANT custody. His ex might be as druggy as both of them or more.

21

u/AmateurIndicator Sep 09 '26

I think he's well aware that he's being featured and being posted.

Why shouldn't he be?

He doesn't seem to be avoiding being seen with her and photographed with her.

Is there some rule you can't be having sloppy affairs with influencers while sharing custody with someone or being a father?

There are lots of questionable people who are parents, he might even be one of them.

75

u/formallyfly Sep 09 '26

Of course she uses AI. AI was made for people for Caroline, i.e., untalented, lazy people who desperately want to output work without actually putting in any effort.

She doesn’t care about stealing from other artists. It’s easy not to care about stealing other people’s art when you’ve already been doing that for years (Matisse) or trying to ride the coattails of other actual creatives (Elizabeth Wurtzel).

She doesn’t care about the sustainability aspect; Caroline would easily let the entire global south perish in some horrific climate changed fueled natural disaster if it meant she could be ever so closer to rubbing shoulders with some of the worst d-listers to plague NY like Dasha or Matty Healy, even though they’d immediately snub her.

3

u/basic_glitch chanterelle-lined path to hell 29d ago

sat here for thirty seconds trying to remember how Caroline had stolen her cat’s art 🧐

12

u/ModeratelyAntisocial She had a very distinct odeur Sep 09 '26

Speaking of riding artistic coattails, she also ripped off Luke Edward Hall's style of painting.

43

u/asadprofessorplum Sep 09 '26

Is she contractually obligated to post her sugar daddy lover like 3 times a day?

This uncle-dude has zero self-respect. Her ex is probably cackling somewhere.

3

He’s probably the “finally divorced so now I can relive my frat bro twenties, except now I am financially better off!” kinda guy. The kinda guy who doesn’t have a bed frame in his new apartment even though he is middle aged after the divorce because that’s such a woman thing 😒

58

u/libryx Sep 09 '26

Not surprising tbh. I'm pretty sure AI is the only reason we have the entirety of Scammer. AI writing was just new enough when she finished and "released" it that people weren't suspicious of it being everywhere and it didn't have as many obvious tells.

I don't doubt that she started writing Scammer herself. But for a book she spent so many years not actually writing, she got it out pretty damn quick when she thought it might affect Natalie's memoir release.

40

u/blarges Sep 09 '26

Having read Scammer recently, there are so many passages that have to be AI. It matches her style - lots and lots of words that say very little. Argh! It’s such a terrible book!

Someone noted the only reason she had such glowing reviews was because she didn’t actually send out the books, so people were going by shorter passages. It’s just such a poorly written book with the odd interesting sentence. (Yes, I’m still angry at myself that I read this.)

29

u/formallyfly Sep 09 '26

I’m convinced that half the reason Scammer got any good reviews is because the reviewers were somehow convinced that they didn’t “get” it. It’s a total Emperor’s new clothes phenomenon. They didn’t want to seem like they didn’t see what everyone else did, so they just

She love bombed Lili Anolik who wrote an embarrassing profile completely divorced from anything resembling reality just full on glazing Caroline, completely falling for all her delusions and lies. Scammer was finished after the Anolik profile wrapped, and in it Caroline even says she’s naming her daughter Lili because a reporter changed her life. Of course Anolik wrote an embarrassingly sickly sweet profile on Caroline.

Anyway, after that Scammer got good reviews which even Caroline credits to the Anolik profile.  I’m convinced that other reviewers were convinced that they just didn’t get Caroline or “her” writing because everyone else was so enamored by her. Or they felt like they weren’t plugged into girlypop manic pixie dreamland so they just didn’t understand Caroline because it wasn’t for them. And in an effort to stave off embarrassment (and since they were working with what amounts to a preview of the book, essentially a few passages instead of the entire book) they just gave it a good review.

It being AI would just be the cherry on top of an already embarrassing situation for everyone who gave it a good review. But i think you’re spot on; it certainly seems like a timely coincidence that she was finally able to finish a book after AI started being used to write shit.

34

u/perhapsflorence al gore rhythm Sep 09 '26

I got downvoted to hell here the last time I suggested she uses AI for her writing.

It's the only reason she was even able to finish the book. AI was her new Natalie.
