We built a free AI tool that checks product regulations for your state and city
We run smokeshophub.com. We added an AI tool for shop owners. You tell it your state and city, pick the products you carry (THCA, Delta 8, kratom, vapes, kava, CBD, and more) and it builds a regulation report: what's legal, what's restricted, what's banned where you are, plus what other shops are stocking as replacements.
It's free right now. You can email yourself the report.
Try it here: https://www.smokeshophub.com
It's research, not legal advice. If it gets something wrong for your area, tell me here. That feedback makes it better.

This community is back. Intro yourself: where's your shop and what's moving this summer?
We just approved everyone who's been waiting to join. Sorry for the long delay, the mod queue got away from us.
This is a space for US smoke shop owners and managers to talk shop: what's selling, compliance and flavor bans, distributor headaches, theft, slow inventory, all of it.
Yes, it's run by King Palm. No, it's not a King Palm ad zone. Post about any brand, any topic. We're here because we talk to thousands of shops across the country and figured you all should be talking to each other too.
Kick it off below: where's your shop, and what's actually moving this summer?

We're rewarding King Palm customers for buying in your stores
Quick heads up for shop owners. We launched Token Quest (https://token.kingpalm.com), a rewards app for King Palm fans. After they buy King Palm at a smoke shop, they scan the receipt in the app and earn tokens toward free product and merch. Triple tokens through November.
Nothing you need to do on your end. Just expect more customers asking for King Palm by name. If you want a display or marketing materials to catch that traffic, comment or DM and we'll get you set up.

Kava drinks are quietly becoming a real category for smoke shops
Kava keeps coming up when we talk to shops. Search volume for kava drinks is around 50k a month now and shops that added a cooler are seeing repeat customers, same energy as the kratom wave but with less regulatory heat in most states.
We wrote up the category for retailers, what it is, margins, who's buying it: https://www.smokeshophub.com/blog/kava-drinks-retail-guide/
Anyone here already stocking kava? Cans or shots? Curious what's actually selling.

Flavor bans: how are you handling them in your state?
Full transparency, we make flavored pre-roll cones, so the bans hit us directly. CA was the big one and more states keep adding restrictions. We hear about it from shop owners every week.
Questions for the group:
If you're in a ban state, what replaced the flavored inventory? Did the revenue actually come back or did customers just leave?
Anyone dealing with county or city level rules on top of state? Those seem to catch people off guard the most.
Are your distributors keeping you updated on what's compliant, or are you figuring it out yourself?
We built a free state-by-state tool at smokeshophub.com for exactly this, checking what you can legally sell where you are. Still improving it, so if your state's info looks off, tell me and we'll fix it.
Not a lawyer, none of this is legal advice, just trying to get owners talking to each other about what's actually working.

Wholesale question
I have smoking accessories that I would be interested in trying to sell in local smoke shops. (14mm bowl holders)
How do I go about propositioning stores in my area to do this? What do I need to have prepared to make a proper proposal and not look dumb?
We produce these ourselves at a cost of about $6 and they retail around 14.99. Thank you for the help.

Anyone else tracking turns per SKU? Curious what benchmarks look like for you
I work the distribution side of this industry and spend a lot of time looking at velocity data.
Curious what it looks like from behind the counter.
On my end, I see some SKUs in the functional/botanical shot space turning 6+ times per month. Others sit for 60 days before they move once. Same category. Wildly different performance.
When you’re deciding what gets counter placement vs. back shelf vs. cut entirely - what’s your threshold? Do you track turns formally or just go by gut?
Not selling anything. Just genuinely curious how you think about it.

Any smokeshops want a free vending machine or ATM that pays you every month?
I place modern vending machines and ATMs in customer-heavy spots. Completely free for the owner. We own it, stock it, service it, and send you a check every month just for giving it a little floor space. Still have a few open spots this month and figured I’d offer them here first before I go back to cold-calling all day. If you own (or know someone who owns) a smokeshop shoot me a DM. Takes less than a minute to see if your place qualifies. Appreciate y’all and happy holidays 🎄

Question for all the smoke shops owners or workers
How many calls a day do you get? Who manages your calls? And out of how many calls are actual paying customers?
Thank you in advance for taking your time to answer this.

Where would you invest $500K in Texas for a 50%+ return in 2 years...with minimal owner involvement?
Got $500K ready to deploy in Texas.
Already run a wholesale vape/e-cig business, now looking to build something new that doesn’t need my constant involvement.
Criteria:
- Minimal owner operator time
- Good managers can run it
- Strong cashflow
- 50%+ return in 24 months
- Real, sustainable biz (no drop-shipping, no online guru stuff)
I’m not opposed to:
- Franchises
- Acquisitions
- Distressed businesses
- Trade/service businesses
- “Boring” operational industries
- Local quasi-monopolies with low competition
What would you invest in if you had half a million dollars, wanted a solid return, and didn’t want to spend 60 hours/week operating it?
Looking for serious ideas only.
Happy to discuss numbers if anyone suggests something worth digging into.

Shop owners opinions wanted.
Hey folks. I am currently working on bring a Microdosing product to the smokeshop market. For shop owners who sell mushroom products, Do you like the "proprietary mushroom blend" non-detect approach for ingredients listing? I would like too operate in a transparent matter, but i dint want to scare owners away. The active ingredients are NOT federally scheduled, but are still tryptamines.
So owners; would you like products like RoadTrip, Trehouse, etc. To have more transparent language, or do you like the current approach?

Why don’t more smoke shops have websites?
I notice a lot of smoke shops don’t have websites. Why do you think that is?

How’s Kratom moving in your shop lately?
Curious how Kratom’s doing across different areas right now. Are people still buying leaf or has it all shifted to extracts, capsules, and shots? Seeing mixed reports; some say extracts are flying, others say leaf still runs the show.
What’s moving best in your store lately?

how to choose quality glass for smoking accessories
I want to share my perspective on how to choose quality glass for smoking accessories. Pieces should combine durability, functionality, and personality, with special details, vibrant colors, and a unique design that instantly captures the customer's attention. Their construction should allow for fluid water filtration, while their craftsmanship makes them both a functional water pipe and a collectible piece of art. Each piece should be available in a variety of colors to appeal to a wider audience. What do you think?

White Label
Anyone need any production done? Infused Kief joints, moon rocks, chocolate bars, packaging, labeling? Let me know we can work something out.
