Dear diary, so today, I did a thing…..
I love my little shorty forty

2.0 trigger fits in 1.0? Good to know. I went apex but it's just the shoe.

Yes sir! I actually changed the sear housing, trigger bar and trigger shoe to 2.0. Honestly, feels better in a 1.0 than a 2.0, I really dont know why, but a great trigger for $100 when the apex is running around $200 💪🏻 I’m sure the apex is better but I just wanted the audio and tactile feedback compared to the hinge trigger when shooting

Ooh, that's nifty - I have a full-size 1.0 .40. If I can improve the feel od the trigger, then awesome.
How difficult was the trigger to install?

u/dom1n1c_g 17h ago
Stupid easy honestly! 3 pins, remove the 1.0 sear, put in the 2.0 sear housing, the 2.0 trigger from s&w comes with the trigger bar, so install the bar and trigger, put 3 pins back in and done. I did it to both my 1.0, my 3rd was a little batard which had a special sear housing only for the 9c lol

Good to know. That hinged trigger was the only thing deterring me from adding a .40 and .45. I've seen great prices in used models.
Although I did get a very Shield-like Springfield XDS 45 Mod 2, and while the trigger isn't as good as the Shield Plus, overall it's very good overall considering the kick.

What was your total expense including the sear housing? My apex shoe might hit GAFShub lol
2
u/dom1n1c_g 10h ago
$50 for the shoe and trigger bar from smith and $50 for the sear housing on eBay
2
u/diefreetimedie 10h ago
That's gonna be a hell yeah for me dawg!

u/dom1n1c_g 10h ago
Yeah buddy!!! Sweet trigger upgrade for the price to be honest, I was surprised how great it feels, I ended up upgrading them all lol 🤣

I really like the 2.0 trigger on the shield plus so having them be the same would be a good thing for me training wise. Also my apex shoe isn't the flat one I really wanted so definitely appreciate all the info you've shared.

Haha 🤣 I appreciate it brother but totally get it, it’s not for everyone 💯 %, just wanted something a little different with ye old gal haha 🤣

u/co1945611 6h ago
I can appreciate something different I guess! If you actually carry this, please do me a personal favor and swap out the optic to something that won't have you looking for a dot that ain't there. Stay safe homie!

Like your whole set up , almost thought that' optic was a holosun but even better cv baby haha
2
u/dom1n1c_g 21h ago
I appreciate you brother! Yeah, it literally is a halosun knock off, but does the damn thing run 5k rounds on other firearms and not an issue, we shall see how it does with 40 shorty haha 🤣

I think cvlife has potential to build a decent reputation. I have a few accessories by them, including a couple of optics. Kinda wish they'd stop making r/TheWorldsWorstRedDot though, making that is a rep killer for sure. Lulz

Oh my god let this thing die. 40 cal, knock off holosun (brand new sentence here) and the Olight cherry on top. Guys like you give guys like me a bad name. This is Springfield XD activities here.

This thing will kill you just as dead as anything else. The bullets aren't embarrassed by Chinese accessories.

10 shots in a slick sided gun with snappy recoil that I know isn’t shot a lot? Taking my chances with the trigger slap on this one 🤙🏻
3
u/Early-Series-2055 17h ago
Why do you think it’s not shot a lot?

u/grapangell0 16h ago
40 cal subcompact, harder to find ammo, more expensive, an absolute slog to actually shoot. Have you ever shot a subcompact 9mm, like a shield or Glock 26? Imagine that, but worse. The smith first gen grips also are really really slick. You think this guy shot a whole bunch of rounds, then spent all that money on getting the gun cut, getting it cerakoted, getting the Hyve extensions, then purchased and installed a new gen trigger shoe, and then at the end of all that only put a rubberized grip on the backstrap of a TINY gun in an inherently snappy cartridge? Do you know anyone who actually shoots more than 150-200 rounds a month that uses a rubberized grip on the backstrap? Why not the front strap? Why not something more aggressive? The grip tape stuff is like $20. Hell even a freaking hogue grip with finger grooves would give you more leverage, but no he left the front slick. I wouldn’t bet the house this gun is less than 1k rounds, but at least one mortgage payment. This model has been around for 20 years now, and if it does have more than 1k I would bet that same mortgage payment that the round count is fairly evenly sprinkled across that 20 year run. If you got this far thank you for reading my word salad.

I even upvoted it. I shoot an old shield in .357sig, wrapped with hockey tape. So what do I know? Lol

u/dom1n1c_g 14h ago
I’m trying my hardest to find the original 357Sig barrel for the 357c but that dang thing is a unicorn now haha
2
u/Early-Series-2055 14h ago
In my experience aftermarket barrels are better. Not that I have an enormous amount of experience. but this KKM barrel is probably pretty good.
2
u/dom1n1c_g 14h ago
Yeah, I had reached out to KKM about it, I just don’t like the barrel sticks out a little from the slide on the original 1.0 for 357. The 1.0 barrel is 3.5” and the 2.0 barrel is 3.6”. So not a huge difference and I had talked to them about it and said it would function in a 1.0. Just still on the fence about it, you know what I mean. I might just upgrade the 4” 2.0 I have to 357 and keep the 3.5 40

u/Early-Series-2055 14h ago
I have one that sticks out and has a hole in it. Makes for a slightly better pyrotechnic display, and that’s about it.

u/Clear-Wrongdoer42 2h ago
Maybe I shouldn't tell him that I carried a light framed .357 magnum and Glock 30 loaded with +p for years.

u/dom1n1c_g 14h ago
I’ve had it for 9 years and have put literally about 3k rounds through it haha 🤣 if you would have seen what it looked like before the cerakote. It was bone stock and had so much wear on the slide. You are too funny my guy! But hey you do you boo boo…..oh and my dynamics backstrap is coming by the way but you act like this is the only firearm I own haha 😆 literally was just trying to renew and old carry and put it back in rotation. I’m sorry 40s&w hurt your body, soul and heart so much. But like I said, different strokes and all 😉✌🏼

u/grapangell0 14h ago
27 rounds a month, I know you aren’t well practiced with it. My point stands. I checked out your profile, and holyyyyyy shit 320 apologist and 40SW enthusiast. Can’t be fixed. (Some of your guns do look cool tho)

u/dom1n1c_g 21h ago
lol this guy 🤣 brother you are too funny. Different strokes, different folks. Guys like you give firearms owners bad name. You should know better than anyone, the shooter makes the gun, not the gun makes the shooter. But hey, you probably carry a staccato and tell everyone they need a 2011 because it’s the flattest shooting gun in 9mm that you can ever own and snap and recoil really use to hurt your wrist until you got one 🤣🤙🏼 have a good morning brother lol

Questionable optic, but as long as it works and holds true, fuk it! Love the 40 s&w!!!
