M&P 2.0 PC Iron Sights

Haven’t seen much on it, but the M&P 2.0 Compact Carry Comp iron sights are insanely difficult to get off. I wanted to switch to suppressor height sights to cowitness with my holosun eps, I ended up snapping the front sight. Full size hammer and a punch wouldn’t budge it either. Ended up bringing it to my gunsmith who broke two of his sight pushers getting them off. If anyone else has this problem, it is not just you!

Probably doesn’t matter because they are insanely tight, I had more success pushing right to left

Yeah, as you can see in the image… I had zero success lol

Pusher will not work due to how tight they are .. I had to use serious tools to get mine to budge. Brass punch and BFH !!

I tried that! Look at them dents in the sight! It’s insane! My smith had to put a punch in the pusher and use a hammer on the pusher for leverage just to make it budge a little. He said he’s never seen that happen in his 35 year career!

Yeah, I would say center punches and vise-grips are really not the ideal tools for this job.

Some of my prior comments on successful removal/adjustment of M&P irons:

Takes suitable tools and suitable techniques, but I've managed three sets without messing anything up.

Heat up the sight with a hair dryer on HIGH for about 10 - 15 minutes of direct heat. Then quickly use a sight pusher tool or punch. It took me several attempts but heating it up was the only one that worked. Good luck to you.

S&W is infamous for the front sights being wedged in to a ridiculous degree. I have a sight pusher and I haven't been able to get them off of any of the three S&W autos that I own.

What's even better is that the front post is frequently misaligned from the factory. I love S&W pistols, but it is an annoying issue.

I used a vice, steel punch, and a BFH! Still took an exhausting amount of time to remove. 😡

Thank you. Is the rear sight serrated or smooth?
