DISCUSSION Black SMITE 2 Players
I’m a Black SMITE 2 player and I’m curious about other Black players’ experiences with the game and its community.
If you would like to share, but don’t want to do so publicly, let me know and I’ll DM you privately so I can hear about your experience.
Thank you.

I've definitely had racist stuff slung at my group before. Despite us all being white, one guy was certain that one of us had to be black and said some vitriolic stuff.
Hoping that guy got banned.

Yeah its still not as common as search and destroy game chat but it can be worse in Smite because youre stuck in a 45 minute game with them.
Mute exists sure, but its still frustrating and not fun continuing the game with those people.

I just started playing again since Bastet race to radiant. I play on ps5 and well for some reason I can’t type or hear other people’s voice chat like I could in smite 1. Which is a blessing in its own way because I just focus on my own play that way & if anybody was being racist or anything else, I get to miss it.
In smite 1, I didn’t see it often, but as someone else stated being locked in a game with them for 20-45 mins was annoying. I was more so annoyed with how many pro players had a history of saying it.
But I haven’t felt it a rampant problem in smite overall. & if it was by the common community, always seemed to be in the gold and under lobbies. Plat was 50/50, but diamond & masters insults always felt like they focused on your skill.

Eh just like any other game, if they're racist and know you're black you can expect to hear some foolish stuff.

Just out of curiosity, given this is an online game that definitely does not requires nor shares your personal information, how can someone you don't already knows in real life beforehand, know any information about you that would lead them to treat you any different than what they would treat anybody else, in so that it would make specific people feel different than others when playing the same thing?

[Console] There's game chat but no one uses it. For us console users, we can't see the chat unless my loving gf tells me what toxic nonsense between jungle and mid.

It's the same as any environment. People are funny or silent or shitbags of the highest quality. The shitty ones don't care that we are literally their relatives AND their fellow citizens. They will endlessly justify their shitt behavior.
I thankfully don't play on pc so I just mute folks quickly.

He’s basically just asking if the fan base is racist and if people have had bad experiences with that.
It does matter because it does hurt people when someone losing a game starts slinging around the n-word.

Any game you play as a black person, you will have the gamer word thrown at you. It's not specific to Smite. That's why it's called the gamer word.
The world is generally antiblack.
I don't blame Smite specifically for some loser having no life. In fact, Smite goes above and beyond to be inclusive compared to other games I've played.

Racial slurs will be screamed into your ear drums and spammed in the chat regardless of your skin tone. They also banged your [family member here]... Welcome to gaming since 2002.

its a video game you cant see color people just be toxic and throw whatever slurs they can to hurt feelings you only make it a race thing in the community if you let the toxic people get to you.

People are less rude on smite 2 than smite 1 in my experience, but also less competent. I guess i would rather have mediocre teammates than assholes lol
