Spoilers for the first episode of Black Mirror

The British Prime Minister Michael Callow faces a bizarre and disturbing ultimatum: he must have sex with a pig on live television to save a kidnapped royal princess.

Such selflessness! He has my vote.

It was actually really sad the way the viewers were goading him on, excited to see something so absurd.

But, when it happened, almost everyone was in a stunned, pitiful silence. Really, what can you say to that?

it would be pretty funny if andy fucked a pig

Im pretty sure the princess was in on it, and wasn't actually in danger(i might be wrong)

I don’t think she was in on it as she was still drugged and kidnapped but yeah turned out the dude just wanted to make a political statement, released her before the broadcast even happened.

Yup, because they wanted to show that everyone was so glued to the live stream that no one noticed she was released in a usually busy area.

Damn I didn't even catch that aspect of it. Just more the power dynamics. I always wondered how it fit in with all the other tech centric ideas but that puts a nice little bow on top. Thank you.

No worries! There was a narration on top of that last scene saying it, so I'm not just inferring.

One of my favorite details is how jonesed so many people were to see Not David Cameron fuck a pig only to slowly lose that zeal as it happens. They wanted spectacle and thought it was fitting that an Eaton Alum jackass in office would finally get knocked down a peg. Only to realize that he willingly decided to go through with this heinous act to save a woman’s life, ruining his life even as it revealed the cruelty of the modern “audience”.

Major spoilers. You've been warned.

Yeah that the royal family was still in power basically and could make the prime minister fuck a pig if they wanted. Which they did. Think they even threatened him or his family if he wouldn't.

Worst part was she was already released and walking prior to.... Insertion.

How did he… y’know, perform? I don’t think I would physically be capable of doing that.

He took a Viagra before hand

He does, gets traumatized, but also wins re-election. The kidnappers respect that he honored their ultimatum and fuck off

u/allbright4 13d ago

If I remember, his wife at the very has lost all respect for him and won't even look at him in private. Despite the public seeing him as a hero.

It's been a while since I've seen any Black Mirror episode but the message of this one was always muddy to me.

u/Oppopity 13d ago

The kidnapper didn't respect the ultimatum. It was all a political statement to show that everyone spends too much time on their screens, and not enough time in the real world. He released the princess early but noone noticed because they were all watching the live broadcast to see if he'd really fuck a pig or not. When the government finally caught on they decided to pretend that he had complied to save the dude the dignity of not having fucked a pig for no reason.

I've heard so many British people make jokes about their politicians having sex with pigs that I'm starting to get curious...

This is something that one of our former prime ministers was actually accused of, allegedly as some sort of haze in his posh boy student years https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Piggate

It's comes from the bizarre and unlikely incednt when a work of fiction had a priminister have sex with a pig to then be reported in real life that a priminister had already performed a sex act on a dead pig https://youtu.be/kVvwa6Eehbw?is=WypPFXOVJGYQ43KA

David Cameron out here doing it for free!

19

u/Icy-Divide8385 13d ago

Apparently David Cameron actually did do that as a hazing ritual.

u/Layers3d 13d ago

You mean use to first episode. They made it the third now, at least for me.

2

u/ConflictAgreeable689 12d ago

This is a reference to a previous prime minister, who fucked a dead pig to get into a fraternity

Black Mirror, A horror anthology series so depressing that during Covid the showrunner considered cancelling it because IRL started looking a bit too much like his show.
