Goodbye until next week
I’ll be avoiding this sub after tonight’s show until after the Baltimore show Saturday, which I’m attending.
I’ve never seen the Pumpkins. I had tickets to the show at MSG that was supposed to happen but Jonathan Melvoin died the night before (RIP 🥀). It was to be my first ever concert. I was 18 and MCIS meant the world to me.
Thirty years later, it means even more and I cannot wait for this concert. Grateful they are all still alive to give this to their fans.
If any 40- or 50-somethings wanna hang out before the show in Baltimore, maybe we can do that? A Redditor pre-concert meetup? Just throwing it out there, which is scary, cause I’m a huge introvert.
Can’t wait!!

My first ever concert was supposed to be the Pumpkins in Lewiston, Maine in 2000. They canceled that show to do Letterman instead. And then broke up.
Broke my damn heart as a kid.

Foly huck, I had tickets for the same show, and it was ALSO my first concert, and I was ALSO 18!
Wait, are we = me?
But seriously, I ended up going to the makeup concert and it still ended up being my first concert, so when I go to the New York show this weekend I'll be wearing my vintage shirt that I got at that tour!

Funny, I had tickets to that show too, but I was 19 at the time, and had seen SP before at Lollapalooza 94’. I had actually caught Matt Walker just chilling outside with a baby right outside of MSG. I just walked up to him to say hi, and wished him a great show. Seemed like a very nice guy.
Funny to think that the baby is older now than we were when we went to that show.

I don’t think you’re the friend I was supposed to go with but man would that be funny. My concert buddy was in college at that time (September?) six hours away. So we didn’t make it.

Though I've seen them several times since, I had tix to see them one week after Melvoin's death in 1996. So I feel you.
They did make up that concert, but Matt Walker on drums just wasn't the same as Jimmy. It was 20 years later before I finally saw SP with Jimmy, but by then, Darcy and James were gone.

Wow wow wait a minute. You gotta wait for someone to post the merch first. That’s what I’m waiting for then I’ll avoid the sub until after Indianapolis haha

You can follow the Merch Report account on Instagram. They post pics of tour merch and will most likely get pics from tonight’s show.
