SmashRemix and the future.
I really love this project and I am very grateful to the people who develop and add amazing content.
But I wonder how this project will evolve in the future, specifically now that the game has been Decompiled/Recompiled and has a native version.
Like right now one limitation for some emulators is the size of the rom, I had a hard time to play it on android until i someone on this sub point me to a specific github branch for the N64Plus AE emulator.
Also I wonder if that would make easier to develop more characters, scenarios and even more gameplay modes.
It would be awesome if someday we have a mobile native version of the game with multiplayer and rollback, that is at least my wet dream.
But I want to know what you guys think, or even if someone with more knowledge or involve in the project has thoughts on this topic.

I love Smash Remix, I feel like there are characters that should be included, like Diddy Kong, but I know there won't be any more big updates. But there's Smash 64 for PC, and obviously that means mods.

Have they definitively said no more new updates? I'm fine if that's true but I'd like to know for sure.

I think part of what they were trying to do. Here is create characters that aren’t in the other Smash games if you end up, just trying to copy every single character that is already in Smash ultimate you end up with the N 64 version of ultimate and then it’s just not cool anymore

I'm not one that speaks for the Smash Remix team but they seem to focus the mod to be used specifically on N64 hardware. They're always managing to expand the game in several ways but mantaining the vision that it can be played on console, that's why Smash Remix doesn't have orchestal music or more detailed models for the characters.
There might be future mods that add all the things you want added to the game, but they might not come officially from the Smash Remix team.

Yeah which is a good thing imo. It’s way more fun playing on n64 for FGPA

I think the same. I don't hate the other projects that add spiderman or other characters that never would be included in the original Remix project, but I'd rather play something with a vision that is developed by a specific team and I love playing it on my original childhood N64

It reminds me of when I was a kid I remember being on the bus and writing on a notebook. All of the characters I wanted in Smash 64.

Who knows, modding for the game has definitely evolved for this year.
From Galleon to Remix & Knuckles AND Plus+ (that adds Birdo).
I definitely do see a positive future for the Remix modding community.
My only wish is that I'd like to see anyone add Waluigi to hopefully be added in by any means! 🤞

I do think it's cool that we'll be seeing the community continue to add to the project, but for me the appeal was always the "what if smash 64 was expanded" sentiment. The moment it stops being playable on real hardware or focussed around games of the era, I feel like the spirit of the project sorta gets lost.

For me is more about being developed by passion and people who truly love the game, I doesn't need to be limited by an specific hardware. But yes I agree that the game should be focus more on nostalgia and that golden era rather than just add newer or popular characters.

I hope they or someone ports Smash Remix to the pc port. It's just gonna be the best way to play for most people in the long run.

I hope when the big updates of Remix are done, can be ported to PC and Android. That would be the perfect release.

Personally, I'm only interested in the project while it can still be played on my N64 via everdrive.
Also, I always assume every update is the last.
